The Role
BuzzFeed is looking for an experienced Director of Development to oversee production over our Series, Talent Development and New Channel Development programming.
You are passionate about experimenting with new formats, bootcamping pilot ideas, and taking shows to the next level of audience engagement.
We’re looking for an extremely creative producer who is able to communicate ideas and critical feedback in a clear and precise manner.
You have a keen understanding of series development as well as digital video and social platform distribution.
You value diversity of all types and can execute that commitment in recruiting, promoting employees, building relationships with talent and creating content strategies.
You can balance overseeing work of freelance and full-time employees while being able to present to and work with executives at BuzzFeed and external clients/partners.
You Will
• Serve as a leader who oversees the vision of Development by workshopping new ideas for existing brands.
• Manage all supervisory roles, making sure all deadlines and requirements are met and oversee budgets and hiring.
• Lead a team of producers to shape Series programming, establishing and maintaining workflow.
• Work with leadership to grow the show and explore new creator talent, and new gap opportunities in the digital space.
• Lead and provide daily management of a team of producers focused on execution and delivery of existing shows.
• Identify opportunities for new video formats and shows to pitch to platform partners.
• Collaborate with editorial video leaders on channel programming and platform teams.
• Work with channel leads, sales and affiliate teams to identify new projects and opportunities to spin-up
You Have
• 7+ years experience as a supervising or Executive Producer
• People management experience showing you can lead with empathy and vulnerability
• Experience in many different video production models
• A network of contacts and freelancers to help work on productions
• Project management, budget, and communication skills
• Knowledge of changing digital and traditional media landscape
• Experience producing or overseeing production of mid to long-form content
• Experience and comfort with client and partner meetings
