School Psychologist

Overview:

We are looking for an outstanding School Psychologists to work part time, 10-12 hrs a week, starting at $55 per hour, with children in a school setting and become a valuable member of our national team of special education superheroes.
LEARN Behavioral, is seeking a Part Time School Psychologist to provide services in a school base environment serving children of all ages with deficits or development disabilities.
Beach Cities Learning (http://www.beachcitieslc.com), a LEARN Behavioral Family of Companies division, is a certified K -12 Private Day School approved by the California Department of Education to provide Special Education Services for the following disability categories: Autism (A), Emotional Disability (ED), Mild Intellectual Disability (MIID), Moderate Intellectual Disability (MOID), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Speech-Language Impairment (SLI).
Beach Cities Learning utilizes a highly-structured, school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports program that teaches students Academic, Social/Emotional Problem-Solving and Strategies. All DCS teachers and support staff are trained in a unique methodology that assists students with maintaining Positive Choice-Making. Responsibilities:

    • Collect and interpret student and classroom data

    • Promote positive peer relationships and social problem solving
    • Make referrals to and help coordinate community services provided in schools
  • Create Safe, Positive School Climates
    • Support social–emotional learning
    • Assess school climate and improve school connectedness
    • Identify at risk students and school vulnerabilities
    • Provide crisis prevention and intervention services
The School Psychologist will be a part of a team that works with students with social, emotional and behavioral needs providing counseling, training, clinical case management, therapeutic interventions, de-escalation, pre-crisis and post crisis interventions as well as Special education case management. This position is supported by a day school program that provides special education teacher and one to three behavior technicians who assist oversee with classroom management, behavior documentation and reporting, implementing social/emotional/behavioral interventions. The School Psychologist will be responsible to assist in Special Education case management, IEP and MET input, attending IEP and MET meetings, developing, collaborating, and implementing interventions for students, counseling per students IEPs, parent training, as well as providing assistance to parents in accessing outside resources for their child. Other responsibilities include maintenance of appropriate documentation and record-keeping.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in School Psychology
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Be able to provide assessments

Certifications/Licensures

  • Maintain School Psychology credentialing and state licensure by the State of California.
  • Valid School Psychologist Licensure by CA state
  • Experience working with emotional and/or behaviorally challenged students
  • PCMA certified is a plus but not required. We can provide PCMA training for you.
  • Collaborate and able to receive to feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors
  • Maintain a professional and clinical perspective at all times, able to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regards certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur
  • Ability to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees
