About the Role:

Aura is seeking a strong Vice President of Engineering to join their management team.

Aura is experiencing rapid growth and you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the company as it innovates and re-defines the personal digital security market. 

You will be managing and building the team responsible for the on-going development of the core technologies, business processes and Cloud operations to continue to evolve and expand its world-class platform to protect against identity theft and fraud protection of finances, personal info, and personal devices. 

In addition, you will lead the design and development of the long-term technical architecture and build-versus-buy strategy.

This includes leading the internal development teams as well as managing outsourced technology providers.

The scope of work is broad and includes all aspects of software development, quality assurance and Cloud operations of the production software. 

The technical areas of responsibility include: services & back-end operations, web-based interfaces, an API platform, back-end/transaction processing, payment system integrations, and miscellaneous third-party integrations. 

The ideal candidate must have a startup “go for it” mentality, but be able to operate in a disciplined, scaled business environment.

This person requires a technical leader who is driven, energetic and focused on team building, customer experience, product quality and delivery. 

Responsibilities

Aura is seeking a seasoned engineering leader with experience building online consumer service businesses in both startups and mid-to-large companies.

Qualifications

  • BSCS/EE or MSCS/EE with 10+ years’ experience
  • Proven track record with 7+ years’ experience managing the development of large-scale, internet-based, customer-facing applications in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • Strong leader with track record of building and managing teams and motivating technical personnel
  • History of mentoring / coaching employees, with genuine interest in employee well being
  • Experience working with off-shore and geographically-distributed on-shore development and operations teams
  • Experience with full cycle Cloud Application development from concept to product launch on any of the public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of customer-facing web-based, desktop and mobile applications using todays leading standards and technologies including: React/React Native, application usage data collection, etc.
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching web-based consumer-oriented products, preferably using SaaS delivery methods
  • Possess a strong sense of distributed systems architecture
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Prior budget management responsibility is a must
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are an absolute requirement

Key Pluses:

  • Experience in the design and implementation of complex workflow products
  • Prior Fintech experience
