We are seeking hard-working candidate with strong people management and underwriting technical skills. Successful candidate will value a collaborative culture and be focused on profitability over top-line growth.Duties & Responsibilities:• Manage Private / Non-Profit company underwriting team in our San Francisco office• Grow book of business covering San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Portland, Seattle and surrounding geographies• Build a book of business that is consistent with the team’s focus on profitable growth• Establish, develop, and expand on broker and customer relationships• Underwrite efficiently without sacrificing discipline, diligence and quality service• Work in a fast-paced environment with agility and decisiveness• Understand market conditions and how to respond as they evolve• Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace• Effectively communicate BHSI’s value proposition to brokers and customers• Work closely with our in-house claims team to help create a positive and transparent experience for our customers• Collaborate with teammates across all product linesQualifications, Skills and Experience:• 8 plus years’ experience in D&O underwriting for Private/Non-Profit Companies• At least 2 years people management experience• Strong technical skills in financial and stock analysis• Solid understanding of policy forms and coverage• Collaborative and team-focused mentality• Excellent communication and negotiation skills• BA/BS degree or equivalent experienceBHSI Offers:• A company with a truly unique opportunity and value proposition in the marketplace.• A growing book of primary business that offers opportunities to be customer-facing as well as experience in placing multinational global programs• A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates• A dynamic, action oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates and our other stakeholders• A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team frameworkNOTE: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
