About the role:

Knows the customers, markets, business, and competitors.

Primarily manages the mechanical engineering aspects for one or more of the following: implantable pulse generators, hand-held externals, body-worn devices or accessories, and radiofrequency generators.

May also support and interact with efforts related to neurostimulation leads, surgical tools, surgical accessories, and radiofrequency ablation needles/electrodes/surgical instruments.

Provides functional leadership to teams working to complete exploratory research, feasibility, standard development, sustaining engineering, and other activities.

Reviews, analyzes, improves, and optimizes functional deliverables/outputs such as those related to product specifications, designs, materials, processes, or various forms of engineering analysis.

Assures performance tests meet requirements set forth in established industry standards for designs under development or modified products, processes, and materials.

Develops staff per business needs and individual development goals.

Contributes to the vision for the next generation products, services, suppliers, processes, or other enabling advancements.

Provides administrative support and improves business processes.

 
Your responsibilities include:

⦁ Manages the technical excellence of functional deliverables.

⦁ Delivers advancements in product specifications, designs, materials, and processes.

⦁ Provides guidance and approval regarding technical vision, strategies, and approaches.

⦁ Ensures regular valued intellectual property submissions from self and staff.

⦁ Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high performing team.

⦁ Assists in identifying and developing department tools and departmental stanadards.

⦁ Assists in and/or completes the development of budgets and monitors spending.

⦁ Assists in and/or determines appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources.

Works with project managers to understand priorities and plans resource and time allocation accordingly.

⦁ Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and project deliverables.

⦁ Establishes and enhances cross-functional team relationships.

⦁ Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.

⦁ Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results.

⦁ Monitors and improves business processes.

 
What we’re looking for:
Minimum Qualifications

⦁ Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent degree.

⦁ 4+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

⦁ Experience in people development and coaching of engineers to achieve technical excellence in product design and project execution.

⦁ Proven skills in cross-functional collaboration and enabling highly effective project teams.

⦁ Skilled at working across sites and cultures, managing and influencing both technology and people development to meet the needs of a business.

⦁ Strong partnership with Program Management, Marketing and Design Assurance.

⦁ Passion for understanding and solving problems for end users using technology and product development efforts
