Plant Manager

Position Overview:

Los Angeles based manufacturing company is looking for a leader to head our manufacturing facility.

The selected candidate is responsible for planning, production, process improvements, management, operations, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.

They are also responsible for ensuring worker safety while maximizing efficiency and delivering quality products on-time.

Job Duties:

– Manage resources to ensure completion of planned production targets on-time.

– Maximum utilization of individual skills, equipment, and materials by providing guidance, training, and direction to employees.

– Ensure full compliance to all engineering standards and production procedures.

– Resolve day-to-day issues and conflicts that may affect daily production targets.

– Evaluate and recommend changes in methods or procedures in assigned areas of responsibility to improve productivity, increase efficiency, reduce quality defects, and minimize safety incidents.

– Determine and recommend improvements and required resources.

– Participate and ensure compliance with company’s environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.

– Participate and ensure compliance with company’s quality management system.

– Provide leadership to facilitate a continuous improvement environment.

– Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Must possess proven skills and abilities in the areas of leadership, planning, metalworking and plastic injection manufacturing, production processes, continuous improvement, and functional problem analysis and resolutions.

Strong customer orientation.

– Minimum 10 years metalworking and plastic injection manufacturing management experience, including experience with planning, scheduling, and reviewing the work and performance of subordinates.

– Experience setting, operating and maintaining automatic cam screw machines; Tornos and Bechler equipment experience a plus

– Knowledge of plastic injection mold making and maintenance

– Experience and knowledge of cold heading manufacturing a plus

– Experience and knowledge of warm forging a plus

· Operational knowledge of manual, automatic, PLC, and CNC metal working machinery: lathes, mills, grinders, EDMS, and drills.

· Knowledge and experience in Heat Treatment

· Experience with design and fabrication of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.

· Experience with CNC programming.

· Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measuring tools

· Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement principles with the ability to prepare analyses and recommend strategies for improvement.

· Knowledge of LEAN, TQM, Six Sigma, 5S desirable

· Experience with creating, improving, and implementing ISO-certified quality management systems for manufacturing metal and plastic products.

· Hazardous Materials Handling and Storage knowledge a plus.

· Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

· Experience with MRP/ERP systems.

· Must be computer literate and proficient within a Microsoft Windows environment.

· Bi-lingual, Spanish language skills preferred

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
