We are currently seeking a Manager/Managing Engineer with expertise in Chemical Process Safety and Process Hazard /Root Cause Analyses for our Thermal Sciences Practice in our Los Angeles, CA office.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting and conducting technical investigations or loss of containment incidents
- Conducting risk assessment and HAZOPS
- Evaluating mechanical integrity and Fitness for Service of fixed equipment
- Preparing written reports, proposals and presentations
- Assisting with project management
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- M.S.
or Ph.D.
in Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering, with a practical and theoretical understanding of combustion, heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Professional Engineering License preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in the area of process safety and risk assessment, and evaluating mechanical integrity pursuant to API 510, 570, 571 and 579, preferably in the petrochemical industry
- Process Simulation experience using HYSYS, Chemcad or SimuLis
- Extensive understanding of API, ASME, and ASTM standards and OSHA regulations/requirements
- Familiarity with Process Critical documents and equipment (e.g.
PFDs, P&IDs; columns, HEs, reactors)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to gather information from and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry
- Outstanding skills and proven track record conducting incident investigations and hazard assessment via any recognized methodology
- Domestic and international travel will likely be required
