Floor Manager

As a Floor Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the dining area and customer service within the establishment. Your role revolves around overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the restaurant’s front-of-house operations to create a positive dining experience for guests.

Job Summary: 

The Restaurant Floor Manager is responsible for managing the front-of-house operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high standard of quality for food and beverages. They oversee the dining area, supervise the service staff, and handle customer inquiries and complaints. The restaurant floor manager collaborates with other departments, such as the kitchen and bar, to ensure a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for patrons.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise the front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts/hostesses, and bussers.

    • Create work schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels during peak and off-peak hours.

    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and handle any disciplinary actions when necessary.

    • Organize regular staff meetings to communicate updates, new policies, and address concerns.

  • Customer Service:

    • Ensure that customers are greeted and seated promptly, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

    • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints, striving to resolve issues to the customer’s satisfaction.

    • Oversee the service staff to ensure they deliver attentive and courteous service to all patrons.

  • Restaurant Operations:

    • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food and beverages.

    • Monitor table turnover and reservation management to maximize seating capacity and minimize waiting times.

    • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, ensuring it complies with health and safety regulations.

  • Revenue Generation:

    • Monitor and control costs, including food wastage, breakages, and theft.

  • Training and Development:

    • Identify staff training needs and conduct training sessions to improve service quality and efficiency.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and customer preferences to adapt service strategies accordingly.

  • Event Management:

    • Help assist with special events, private parties, and catering functions, ensuring smooth execution.

  • Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, liquor laws, and food handling practices.

    • Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and employee attendance.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a restaurant floor manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
