My client is a growing and well-funded Vegan, Sustainable, and Cruelty-Free Skincare and Beauty Brand.

Their products are 100% biodegradable and are designed to protect your skin and our plant, all while tackling Global Poverty, supporting our Girls and the LGBTQIA+ community and Climate Change.

As the Director of Product Development & Innovation you will oversee the small but growing R&D Team, while working alongside the c-suite and Marketing in the strategic growth of the company and its products!

My Client is passionate about providing luxurious HIGH quality and biodegradable products but at affordable prices, while also supporting various causes and communities!

This role will encompass Product and Project Management and Product Innovation & Strategy and will be a key position in developing this department out!

Description

Work in a start-up type environment; create and run the department from scratch, working closely with the Founders and c-suite.

Analyze consumer, product, formula and packaging trends to propose and create innovative, on-trend products

Develop a forward-looking business strategy and product plan which defines market trends, opportunities and risks within the beauty and personal care category, and develop a new product launch cadence to expand our product portfolio and regularly introduce newness to consumers and retailers

Analyze market share, identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and opportunities that arise to realize additional market share, revenue, and profits through competitive positioning

Product R&D (product, form, component innovation) directing labs and manufacturers from initial concepts through final production

Work with our packaging designer for primary & secondary packaging design and development Source labs and manufacturers (domestic and international) for all new products

Oversee BOM development and pricing strategy to maintain a healthy COGS

Communicate product features and benefits to marketing and brand education team for effective marketing campaigns and product educational materials for our ecommerce site, retail partners, sales reps and field training reps; ensure marketing/product claims are legally compliant

Collaborate with cross functional teams (creative, sales, marketing, operations, regulatory, etc) for product launch strategies and execution

Have a keen awareness of worldwide innovations, trends, consumer feedback and competitor activity

Expertise in seeking and driving innovation from product concept and competitive evaluation, to vendor briefing and product iteration cycle

The Successful Applicant

The idea candidate will be passionate product ideation and innovation, staying ahead of product and market trends, and wanting to launch newness for a fast-growing beauty and personal care brand.

10+ years of experience in Product Development in cosmetics, personal care, skincare or dietary supplements!

Experience and strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers

Passion for beauty, skincare, our plant and taking care of our communities!

Very good attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects through strong prioritization and planning

Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

Ability to work in start-up, fast-paced, ever-changing, collaborative environment

Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Knowledgeable in the world of social media with the ability to pitch unique social concepts from product perspective

Quick to execute with a focus on bringing new produce lines, recognizing that speed to market is extremely critical

Strong background in the product development process, including Bill of Materials development and evaluation
