Associate Director, Field Marketer (Central US-Rare Genetic Disease)

The Field Marketer, Rare Genetic Disease (RGD) Marketing will report to the Director, Field Marketing.

The ideal candidate will have strong rare disease experience and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The Associate Director, Field Marketing will engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Centers of Excellence managing non-malignant hematology.

They will gather insights to shape brand strategy and will build tools to support implementation of strategy, including peer to peer engagement and formation of communities of practice within PK deficiency.

This role is field-based.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Team

  • Provide insights for marketing strategy and commercial content development based upon feedback from KOL’s for current and future disease states for which PK activation is relevant
  • Responsible for KOL selection/contracting for all marketing initiatives
  • Provide input and help to create the direction/strategy for a positive customer experience
  • Develop marketing tools based on feedback from KOLs, as needed

KOL Management

  • Collaborate cross functionally to identify KOLs / Centers of Excellence (CoE) for mitapivat
  • Build and maintain Agios corporate relationship with key physicians and centers via an annual KOL plan
  • Gather insights from KOLs about market and product to inform marketing strategy and tactics
  • Develop periodic KOL Insight Report across all regions to inform organization about insight generation
  • Support cross-functional collaboration for KOL engagement across HCP, Payer, and Medical
  • Establish and appropriately assist with KOL relationships for engagement efforts (Ad boards, Congress encounters, Product theaters, P2P programming, Ad Hoc consulting, etc.)

Peer to Peer Program Management

  • Identification of/ ongoing evaluation/ and oversee partnership with thought leaders / advisors within specified geographic area
  • Provide input for speaker strategy and development of educational tactics
  • Ongoing evaluation of faculty to ensure compliant messaging in promotional education initiatives including P2P programming/product theater coverage/web-based education
  • Routinely attend P2P programming across all customer segments to evaluate and engage customers on our initiatives and how we can evolve and support the RGD franchise

Ad Board/Steering Committee Management

  • Collaborate across marketing team to identify key questions and associated ad board plan
  • Responsible for assigned project management responsibilities

Congress Management

  • Provide support for Global Congress activities
  • Support Product Theater/Symposium Management and all KOL engagements occurring at a regional or national congress

Regional Support for Sales Team

  • Provide regional marketing support to assigned sales region(s)
  • Marketing liaison to field teams

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of work experience in marketing, sales, or related functions
  • Rare Disease field based experience required
  • Documented track record of delivering consistent, exceptional levels of performance and leadership
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, self-starter, with experience effectively partnering with HCPs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large geography with minimal guidance
  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of people and functions
  • Effective vendor management and ability to seamlessly execute on strategy
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage both at the strategic and tactical levels, including demonstrated project management skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Rare disease and hematology experience strongly preferred, including history of building relationships with physicians referring, diagnosing and/or treating rare disease
  • Able to travel 50-70% of time
