Role and ResponsibilitiesThe Pilates Instructor is responsible for teaching and coaches groups or individuals in the fitness program referred to as Pilates.
An instructor helps his students use Pilates to promote overall health, improve muscle tone and strength, and achieve better posture.Specific ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsThe Pilates Instructor is to provide quality Pilates Instruction and service to all clients.The Pilates Instructor is to be available to all clients if not involved in a 1-on-1 session or doing specific administrative tasks.Assist members in using safe and effective exercise form during their Workouts.Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorOther FunctionsSupport, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals.To be actively involved in promoting the Pilates studio.The studio equipment is to be cleaned and checked for safety once a week.Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active WellnessPromote club services and activitiesPerform routine maintenance of equipmentAssist with keeping the club well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingsHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingRequirements:Qualifications and Education RequirementsRequires a pleasant personality and good communication skills, as instructors have to spend a good deal with other people and convey instructions clearly.
Likewise, they heed a talent for motivating others and showing their own passion for physical fitness.AA degreeGroup Exercise experience preferred but not required1-2 years of experience is preferredMust be qualified on Pilates equipmentMust be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedNational Personal Training Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses and Permits list) as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)Proof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working ConditionsAbility to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
