ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a part-time Pathologists’ Assistant.
Primary responsibilities include:Under general supervision of a pathologist, independently perform or assist in dissection, describing, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimensPerform specimen photography and radiographyPerform frozen sections and other intraoperative consultationsProcure tissue for tumor banking and research studiesParticipate in the orientation and training of residents, fellows, new employees, and Pathologists’ Assistant students in surgical pathology protocols and proceduresIdentify, investigate, and resolve problems related to surgical pathologyParticipate and/or assist in accessioning and labeling specimensNote:This is a contract position that’s anticipated to last for one yearEligible to convert to careerQualificationsMust be able to work outside of normal shift hours and/or overtimeBachelor’s degreePA (ASCP) certified or must pass PA (ASCP) exam within 12 months of hire2 or more years of relevant work experience, preferredUCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
