Observability Sales Engineer, Southwest Strategic Accounts

Splunk is growing rapidly worldwide – we’re hiring self-starters who want to help top companies take on huge challenges by Turning Data into Doing. At Splunk, your skills won’t go stale. Work with people you like while building, selling, and supporting products people love.

As a Sales Engineer for Splunk’s Observability, or “O11y” for short, you will be part of a world-class pre-sales team. You provide technical expertise and thought leadership on application-focused solutions to the sales organization and to Splunk’s prospects and customers.

A Day in the Life of a Splunk O11y Sales Engineer:

You focus on customers while acting as the authority across your O11y solutions including the Observability, Splunk On-Call, and other Splunk technology products. You will consistently be delivering product demonstrations that directly address customer pain and emphasize our outstanding value proposition.

You enjoy the opportunity to work directly with your Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to share your knowledge and experiences to ultimately improve our business and our customers’ success.

You succeed at working with all levels of an organization from the C-suite down to individual developers and SRE’s.

You love the idea of guiding prospects through trials and POCs, demonstrating Splunk’s ability to meet and exceed customer requirements, and building a positive relationship that will go beyond the initial transaction and provide value to our customers for years to come.

What you bring:

  • We can guide you on the technology, help you with soft skills, and educate you on processes. You bring a strong sense of self-motivation and an unbridled curiosity about what “is possible” with technology, the desire to work with an exciting team, and a positive, fun-loving demeanor.
  • 7+ years’ experience in customer-facing roles. Sales roles are a power-up.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in engineering/software development roles working with current programming languages including Java, Python, PHP, .NET, Ruby, Node.js, Go, etc.
  • Experience selling and working with pure SaaS solutions in multi-tenant architectures.
  • Hands-on experience working with containers or microservices on the AWS, GCP, and Microsoft Azure platforms where you are certified or eager to become certified.
  • Familiarity with various monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Datadog, New Relic, and Grafana, is a real advantage in this role. Be prepared to discuss this.
  • Potential travel is approximately 25%, focused primarily in the region.
