Security Officer

Job Summary:

As a Security Officer for Integrated Protection Group, you will be responsible for the safety and security of our client’s property and personnel. As an Integrated Protection Group Security Officer, you will complete training and know all the site-specific policies and procedures, implement appropriate emergency response activities, while providing professional and exceptional customer service and maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all your interactions while in the workplace.

Duties/Responsibilities:

As a Security Officer for Integrated Protection Group, you will observe and report activities and incidents at the assigned client site using the tools and technology implemented and provided by the company. You will be responsible for supporting the security and safety of the client property and personnel. You may be required to patrol the perimeter of the property on foot or in a vehicle to monitor visitor access to the site or you may do so from a designated post or area of the client site. You will check for irregularities, inspect equipment and protection devices and/or fire control equipment. You will be responsible for preserving order, maintaining access control, reporting unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, and security violations. You may be asked to enforce regulations for the site pertaining to vendors and visitors. As the Security Officer, you will be required to respond to accidents, emergencies, medical emergencies, unauthorized access, reports of fire, bomb threats, flooding or
water damage, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, and other incidents. In the event of an incident, you may be asked to protect evidence, secure incident scenes, report factual information to
the Site Supervisor/Post Commander, Client, IPG Management and other appropriate parties or authorities as indicated in the Post Orders.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Possess effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Maintain or be able to possess a valid guard license, as required by the state.
  • As a condition of employment, the employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • For Driving Positions must be 21 years of age, maintain a current state driver’s license, have a clean driving record, minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communications skills.
  • Be able to learn and utilize the necessary computer programs and technology available to perform the required duties at the client specific site.
  • Be able to handle sensitive information and handle a crisis at the client site in a calm an efficient manner.
  • Be able to work in various environments such as cold or warm weather.
  • Be able to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Be able to climb stairs, walk on various surfaces or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Be able to walk or climb ramps and ladders occasionally during shift.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Prefer one year of work-related experience or a combination of education and customer service work related experience and a willingness to acclimate to the evolving physical and technology security industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 40 pounds occasionally.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.
