– 11:00pmCompensation: $18.00-$19.00/HourJob Classification: Full time, Hourly, Non-exempt, 25 Hours/WeekUnion Representation: This position is represented by the AFSCME Local 999The Resident Assistant (RA) position focuses on enhancing the quality of life in the housing building, including fostering community, providing support, and being attentive to safety and security of clients.

This position requires an individual who is flexible enough to assume a variety of roles as dictated by the changing needs of the clients.

The RA is required to interact with a wide range of people inside and outside the organization’s setting.

It is crucial that an individual be able to relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities.

The RA is more than just a friendly presence; she/he is the crucial link in creating an environment in which residents develop independence and learn to live cooperatively with others.

A sense of community occurs when the members of the community respect each other’s needs and rights.

The RA plays an active role in advising clients to achieve a successful experience, developing individual responsibility, self-regulation, personal growth, and social awareness, as well as to develop personal relationships to individually support and assist other clients.

RA must be able to react to and respond to medical emergencies, which may arise, and must have the ability to convey a positive and professional image to clients, staff and visitors.

RA must be able to maintain client confidentiality.PRIMARY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONSManage & Supervise resident activity and responsibilitiesAssist clients in maintaining housing stability through adherence to client rules and productive behavior.Promptly report client safety and behavior issues to supervisor.Perform key inventory, review all late/overnight passes, and perform room checks to ensure all residents are present accordingly.Perform searches of the facility and residents and their belongings as needed or scheduled.Assist with securing personal belongings of residents who depart.Perform client breathalyzer and drug screens as requested.Administer the Medication Assistance Program to aid clients in proper use of their medications.Enforce pest control procedures.Perform general rounds of facility and grounds on a shift basis and report any concerns.Perform general housekeeping, maintenance and security tasks as needed.

Including remove outdate materials from bulletin boards.Provide facility security, lock doors and lounges according to schedule.Maintain Key Control Procedure.Respond to client emergency medical, mental health and/or emotional needs, when required.Oversee recreational activities as requested by Supervisor.Administrative:Understand and follow incident/accident reporting policies and procedures.Maintain daily log, forwarding pertinent information to each work shift.Document and communicate maintenance needs to Facilities Department.Know and follow program emergency procedures.Inventory supplies and forms.

Make copies as needed and request supplies as needed.Understand and follow vulnerable adult policy and reporting procedures.Understand and follow emergency fire and weather policies and procedures.Safeguard personally identifiable health information (PHI) in accordance with duties and current agency HIPAA notification statement and standards.Participate in staff trainings as required.Greet guests and provide information in a respectful manner.Answer telephone and record messages.Sort the mail and return mail for residents who have been gone for 30 days or more.Perform laundry duties as needed.Attend training events and staff meetings as required by your supervisor.Promote positive, safe, harmonious, productive and challenging work environment.Performs all other duties, as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION Medium work
– Standing most of the time.

Occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or GED.

Education and/or experience and training in human services or related field preferred.Experience working with culturally diverse populations who are experiencing serious life challenges.Medication Administration certified or must complete designated Medication Administration course within first 30 days if not already certified in medication distribution.CPR/First Aid certified.Current Mantoux test.
