Primary Responsibility / Summary

Assists drivers in loading and unloading of goods. Performs a variety of material handling tasks to support the efficient operation of the department. Per government requirements, this role required to be fully COVID- 19 vaccinated.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists drivers with loading and unloading of bins.
  2. Create soft and hard goods bins for drivers.
  3. Load and unload trucks/trailers (Raw donations, trash, salvage, etc.).
    1. Segregating soft goods, hard goods and trash.
  4. Ensure all items are marked correctly (Donations, commodities, salvage, etc.).
  5. Sort recyclables in proper containers (metal, plastic, cardboard, etc.).
    1. Build and palletize empty gaylords for commodities; ensuring heavier commodities have adequate support.
  6. Operate equipment (i.e. auger, compactor, tipper, down-stroke baler, auto-tie) by following established procedures and guidelines.
  7. Must be able to use material handling equipment (i.e. pallet jack, hand truck, furniture dolly)
  8. Must be able to use a forklift to move commodities from one processing area to another.
  9. Assist with the removal and spotting of augers and compactors.
  10. Assist with the counting of inventoried donations.
  11. Clear post retail textile tables of trash and commodities.
  12. Clean, organize and sweep the warehouse to ensure a safe environment.
  13. Must be able to lift and carry min. 25lbs.

Education & Experience

  • Min. 1 year of warehouse experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision.
  • Spanish / English bilingual preferred.
  • Must be safety conscious.
  • Excellent people skills and maintains courteous disposition at all times.
  • Ability to following written and oral instructions consistently.
  • Shift flexibility and overtime when needed

  • Fork-lift certification

English Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
