System Administrator (El Segundo, CA)

Position Description: IDS is seeking a System Administrator in support of multiple dynamic software development and test environments to perform all aspects of Windows and Linux/Unix server and storage system administration including provisioning, patching, hardening, troubleshooting and issue resolution. Candidates will have the opportunity to expand their skillset by working on a variety of network architecture and development applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes; reviewing system and application logs; and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Perform configuration changes, system backup & restore, troubleshooting and user account administration. Provide technical support of VMware systems. Coordinating actions with peer system administrators, network administrators, security teams and software teams. Recommending and implementing performance-enhancement, reliability-enhancement, and automation solutions. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Upgrade, Replace and/or purchase computer system and network hardware. Other duties as required. Knowledge and Skills: 5+ years of experience in UNIX/LINUX, Windows Server System Administration. Experience with continuous integration tools (Jenkins) and source control systems is a plus. Experience building Operating Systems. Education and Work Experience: This position requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, information technology, computer science, or other related disciplines. Equivalent work experience of five (5) or more years of direct system administrator may be acceptable in lieu of a degree. Physical & Mental Qualifications: Must be able to sit, type, hear, see, and speak for extended periods of time. Must consistently work and type on a computer for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to able to communicate accurate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to lift/carry at least 15 lbs. May be required to move about inside an office to access file cabinets, office supplies, etc. Security Clearance: Applicants selected for employment may be subject to a Federal background investigation and may need to meet additional eligibility requirements for access to classified information or materials. Travel: Some travel may be required. Hours: Normal work schedule hours may vary, Monday through Friday. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines or to fulfill travel obligations. Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
