Field Engineer

Provide technical engineering information to construction management and crafts to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with the engineered design, technical requirements, engineering standards, and codes.

This includes performing tasks that include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities
Read and interpret Contract, Drawings, Specifications, Standards, and related technical documents in order to maintain the construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.

Research and resolve drawing interpretations problems, conflicts, interferences, and the like.

Prepares, updates and distributes work activity schedules/updates, and communicates across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.

Manage the preparation of RFI’s and related Submittals.

Support planning and technical issues.

Prepares construction work plan packages and coordinates pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed .

Manage the effective utilization of technical expertise within the Project Management team.

Coordinate Field Engineering activities with Construction Management team.

Monitors and participates daily in field construction process.

Provides layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements.

Assists in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution.

Provides accurate and factual assessments of project performance.

Coordinates with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.

Field verify to ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications and contract.

Ensure as-builts updated as required by contract.

Daily documentation, pictures of work performed, and conversations held.

Maintains a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures.

Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices.

Identifies and resolves changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.

Reviews project plans and develops a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

5
– 7 years of heavy civil construction experience.

Working knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment, standards and procedures.

Experience with Utility / Underground / Concrete Structures Construction preferred Commitment to safety and quality.

Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Strong work ethic
– Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
