What part will you play?

  • GAF Energy is seeking a Field Applications Specialist to observe, evaluate and document the quality of field work practices as it relates to the installation of residential solar systems, and provide advice and feedback to leadership and management teams based on the observations.

  • The Field Applications Specialist will work with internal teams, contractors and business partners within the GAF Energy network to establish and implement quality standards and best practices related to the deployment and operation of our products. 

  • The ideal candidate must have a passion for problem solving and meeting timelines, and be capable of working remotely and independently at locations within the US as assigned.

  • This exciting role will report to the GAF Energy Field Operations & Construction Manager.

What will you be doing?

  • Effectively control safety & health risks related to your field work including working at heights, working with electricity, driving, and other risks.

  • Learn our products to an expert level and be a resource to teach, train, and coach GAF Energy product installation methods to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with engineers, contractor partners and internal teams to determine specifications of a project, and go into the field and evaluate the project based on the specifications. 

  • Report out to management, leadership teams and contractor partners on the results of field inspections, including recommendations for correcting critical issues.

  • Support the onboarding and training of contractor partners and internal teams.

  • Recommend improvements to product and tool design that supports continuous improvement based on feedback from customers and real world experience.

  • Participate in department projects such as building test fixtures and roofs to perform field applications testing.

What do we require from you?

  • 3+ years experience in roofing and/or solar construction, electrical systems, or related field.

  • Experience with design, engineering, and/or installation of solar + storage desired.

  • Experience working hands-on with hardware, hand and power tools, instruments and measurement tools and techniques.

  • Experience collecting and analyzing data, drafting and presenting reports based on the data.

  • Experience communicating with front-line technicians, engineers, sales and marketing teams, and external customers.

  • Proficiency in a Microsoft Office or Google Workspace environment.

  • Experience working remotely, independently, and with little to no direct supervision.

  • Proficiency with MS Visio, CAD, and industry-specific software and tools (e.g., PVsyst, PVSim, Aurora, SunEye, etc.) desired.

  • NABCEP and/or other industry certification desired..

  • Multilingual with reading/wiring competency in Spanish language desired.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions

  • Individuals in this position may be required to obtain additional training and certifications to comply with GAF Energy policies such as NFPA70E, First Aid/CPR and others.

  • Travel throughout the US may be required. Up to 50% average travel with frequent overnight stays is conceivable.

  • When in the field, individuals will be expected to be capable of performing tasks similar to those of an electrician or field technician.

  • This is a remote-based position, and candidates are expected to work from home when not working in the field. This includes frequent online meetings, on-camera presentations, and phone calls.

Benefits and Compensation:

 

Individuals hired for this position can reasonably expect a base salary within the range of $80,000 – $125,000.  The company provides comprehensive health and retirement savings plan benefits that support an employee’s total well-being.
