Data Analyst

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrable experience of using relational databases and Cloud Data environments via writing performant queries in SQL against multi-terabyte and billion row datasets in AWS Redshift/Spectrum, MS SQL, and MySQL Transform data-based observations and insights into hypotheses through analytical rigor, leading to use cases that will confirm or deny those hypotheses and ultimately improve the quality of data Demonstrate critical thinking around business rules and logic especially as it pertains to compensation models and other analytic models Design appropriate data structures by gathering data from primary and secondary sources for reporting consumption Troubleshoot, research, and identify discrepancies specifically around data such as inventory, compensation, claims/reimbursements, general sales activity, and other such related data Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets Create structured data marts for current and historical reporting Detail oriented and deadline driven to meet monthly filing deadlines Assist in data governance, meta data management and quality control of the completeness and accuracy of data Work with end users to follow through with associated action items and execute in a timely manner Design and document process and data flows for establishing data pipelines to support detailed analyses and accuracy in reporting Present analyses, translate findings in the data into solutions, and perform root cause analysis in a concise manner which is easy to interpret and understand KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in economics, finance, computer science, statistics, or other data related field preferred Experience working with ETL tools such as Matillion, AWS Glue, SSIS, etc. Working knowledge of BI reporting tools such as Tableau or similar tools Strong product development mindset and focus on actionable analytics Ability to clearly communicate with cross functional teams Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy Translate business requirements into technical requirements Work with business stakeholders to assess potential risks Minimum of 2 years of BI/reporting/data analysis experience Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills Analyze problems and provide automated solutions whenever possible Working knowledge and experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and iterative practices in a service delivery lifecycle Experience with online collaboration tools such as Slack, JIRA, or MS Teams is a plus Consistent demonstration of organization, prioritization, self-motivation, and problem resolution skills Ability to navigate between multiple projects, meet deadlines, and process ad hoc requests Ability to deal with ambiguity and influence change in a rapidly changing business environment Great interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide insights to support key business decision making MUST be able to work from the Los Angeles Office 3-4 days/week NO VISA SPONSORSHIP BENEFITS: 401(k) matching Medical insurance, including PPO & HSA Dental insurance Vision insurance Flexible Spending Account(s) Free Life & Long-Term Disability Insurance Free Identity Theft Protection & Travel Assistance Access to corporate discount program Flexible schedule Paid time off (sick, bereavement, and Flex PTO) Parental leave
