Business Process Analyst

The SAG-AFTRA Health Plan and the SAG-Producers Pension Plan (the Plans) provide health and pension benefits to SAG-AFTRA members based on their earning thresholds. The Participant Eligibility Department (PED) is responsible for determining eligibility for the SAG-AFTRA Health Coverage for participants and their dependents based on earnings and reported contributions to the Plans.

The Business Process Analyst will provide production support, analyze reported system application issues to determine the cause of possible application bugs and develop resolutions. This role will document the outcome of the recommended process changes, translate the process changes into requirements, and present the new process designs to respective stakeholders. In addition, this role will be the primary liaison between the business unit and Information Technology. The role is also responsible for reviewing and analyzing reports to determine data integrity, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring the accuracy of the Plan’s data; understanding and collecting business requirements for system enhancements, and working with IT to test system enhancements prior to implementation of changes into the production environment and coordinating user acceptance and quality assurance testing by the department.

Job Requirements:

Essential Job Functions
  • Analyze reported system application issues to determine the cause of possible application bugs and develop resolutions
  • Monitor progress of the issues by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Initiate batch processing in a trial and actual mode for pre-quarterly and quarterly eligibility processes
  • QA, monitor, and review data file output for quarterly and recurring eligibility processes
  • Development and testing of new and existing eligibility templates
  • Work with vendors to coordinate, validate and implement any changes in eligibility correspondence
  • Work with IT to define, write, and develop database queries to support business units
  • Testing and UAT of system enhancements and reports
  • Analysis of reported system issues to determine the cause and develop resolutions
  • Analyze reports, make corrections to data from multiple internal systems, and delegate work to staff
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the IT department
  • Provide updates on data corrections and issue analysis from reported production issues
  • Communicate to staff and manage the implementation of newly adopted systems/processes
  • Train the staff and share updates with partner departments
  • Apply business knowledge and independently recommend solutions to improve operations
  • Respond to executive grievance and escalations in writing and by phone
  • Conduct audit and QA on vendor exception files
  • Establish eligibility and process terminations for participants in Earned Active, Roster Artist, SAG-AFTRA, AFTRA Retirement, Station Staff, Self-Pay, and Senior Performer health coverage
  • Work with vendors to perform data validation and correction on eligibility and vendor files
  • Works closely with other departments to review and investigate participant requests for eligibility determinations, reinstatement of health coverage, changes to their current plan, and premium reimbursements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Assist with department overflow as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/ Experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years related experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Multi-Employer Plans
  • Experience in IT
  • Presentation Skills
