Communications Coordinator

This includes supporting the unified communication strategy for the department”s programs: Civic Engagement & Economic Partnerships, Local Government & Community Partnerships, small business and non-profit programs, Good Neighbors, Neighborhood Academic Initiative, KidWatch, Kinder2College, TRiO, USC Family of Schools, and School for Early Childhood Education, and in coordination with USC Radio Group.Responsibilities include:Coordinates activities and events to enhance the public”s awareness of UR programs including: Civic Engagement & Economic Partnerships, Local Government & Community Partnerships, small business and non-profit programs, Good Neighbors, Neighborhood Academic Initiative, KidWatch, Kinder2College, TRiO, USC Family of Schools, and School for Early Childhood Education, and USC Radio Group.

Conceptualize, design, produce and deliver creative assets for a wide range of projects including email communications, social media, animation, branded materials and collateral for internal and external audiences.Manages the department”s social media calendar and digital platforms (Facebook, website, Instagram, and Twitter).Develops, produces and distributes digital assets for department marketing and public relations purposes.

Coordinates appropriate use of University and/or department logos, emblems and indiciaContributes to a department culture of trust, openness, and collaboration by sharing information broadly, openly, and deliberately.

Maintains strong understanding of and proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders with a special focus on USC”s neighbors and communities.Works closely with University Communications to support and ensure alignment with USC wide communications, public relations, and community engagement.

Partners with schools and departments across the institution to support and amplify related programs and initiatives.Support a positive intra department team culture and internal communications.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Communications.Qualifications:At least 2-3 years of work experience in communications, public relations, and or marketing.Knowledge of creative design tools (Photoshop, InDesign, and Final Cut Pro)Background with communications involving community relations, public policy, government and or educational programs preferred.

Demonstrated track record of developing and executing clear, targeted strategies with accompanying plans and metrics.

Strong writing and verbal skills with ability to synthesize information and communicate clearly.

Experience drafting executive level communications and preparing delivering information rapidly and effectively.Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively work with a cross functional team in a fast-paced setting.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and partner with internal and external stakeholders.A strong understanding of media strategies utilizing social and digital media.
