Lab and Operations Technician

Strands is an innovative, direct-to-consumer hair care company disrupting the market by introducing novel, at-home hair and scalp diagnostic tests and customized shampoo and conditioner products.

Our process involves collecting a small hair sample from customers and analyzing biological data points to create a comprehensive hair condition report and hyper-customized formulas.

We’re looking for a talented, self-driven lab and operations technician to join our rapidly growing team in Los Angeles and perform the following
Your Role
Support our Hair Analysis lab by conducting all hair testing
Conduct protein assays, extractions, and other biochemical analysis methods Analyze samples on optical microscope Develop working knowledge of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Pick up and drop off at post office location Accession customer samples for testing Organize samples using barcode tracking tools Perform diagnostic assays and proprietary test methods Document sample characteristics and test results in the lab information management system.

Track sample progress using the lab information management system.

Liaison to Customer Support team on any questions pertaining to customer hair testing, sample arrival, reporting, and timing
Support our Product Operations team
Support lead chemist in production batches and qualifications Follow procedures to fulfill orders and to produce batches Build packaging inventory Document all batch and fulfilled products in data management system
General
Perform in a fast pace working environment and with minimal to no supervision occasionally lifting 20 lb.

or under Maintain proper lab notebook documentation including but not limited to formulation, procedure, and specifications Maintain safe and clean work environment by sanitizing work stations, glassware, tools and equipment routinely Continue to identify best practices, opportunities for process improvements, and work with team to implement Ability to find creative solutions to continue operations.

Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum BA or BS in biological sciences or equivalent life science 1-2 years of previous laboratory experience within a diagnostic or research laboratory.

Personal RnD or Operation experience is a plus.

Strong organization skills and maintain laboratory documents.

Knowledge of regulations (GLP, CGMP) Ability to work independently and with professional and nonprofessional personnel Great verbal, written communication and analytical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word and familiarity with Lab Information Management, Inventory Management systems and Dropbox Experience to operate and record data using various laboratory and production equipment, including but not limited to pH meter, laboratory viscometer, balance/scale and density cups Flexibility to work first and/or second shift
