Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to be on our Air Warfare Weapon Systems team to perform systems engineering (SE) efforts for integrating our NG missiles onto F-35 combat aircraft and other platforms with our talented Advanced Weapons team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering on missile / weapon system development and test programs. They will also have the technical experience on one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, including the electrical/mechanical/software/firmware interface and aero/structural knowledge. This candidate will support the Systems Engineering (SE) Lead on the proposal, program planning, and program execution for the various systems engineering efforts. This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects to leverage on existing technology as well as working with the program team and customers to innovate system architecture to adapt to the industry and customer’s needs. This position will be at our Northridge, CA. Location.

In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):

•Be part of the systems engineering team to execute platform-store integration programs for the integration, test, and requirements verification activities.

•Support proposal and program planning; develop rough order estimates and basis of estimates and support the development of technical volumes and white papers.

•Support SE-efforts to perform system analyses necessary to support for Flight clearance and provide flight-test-related recommendation and assessment, such as test planning and post-flight performance evaluation

•Be responsible for any work packages assigned and manage one’s own tasks with respect to cost and schedule to ensure delivery of work products (internally and externally) on time

•Analyze and manage system requirements for its traceability to customer’s requirements/constraints and to lower-level requirements and designs.

•Support functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.

•Support system technical performance measurement tracking.

•Generate well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents.

•Support major reviews such as System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed.

•Collaborate cross-functionally/IPTs to establish and maintain coherent information among team members in an integrated digital environment.

•Participate in advanced technical research studies and applications

•Support various working groups for safety, testing, etc.

•Support SE Lead to coordinate with critical subcontractors for the developing and testing of tactical missile technologies and delivery of quality products.

•Support SE Lead on CDRL/SDRL submittal completion by the contractual due date.

Basic qualifications:

•Must have an Active DoD Secret Clearance

•Bachelor’s degree in electrical or aerospace engineering or similar, with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience; Master’s degree with three (3) years of related experience

•Must have technical system/subsystems development and testing relevant to missile/weapon system.

•Must have experience in development and integration of multiple subsystems relevant to missile/weapon system with respect to electrical/mechanical/logical interface and/or aero/structural aspect(s).

•Must have experience in integration and testing of two complex systems (such as missile to platform)

•Must have experience in evaluating system level performance of a missile/weapon system

•Must have demonstrated experience in contributing to the development of advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product.

•Must have experience in making technical decisions that are related to system/subsystem-level designs and/or requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

•Active DoD Secret Clearance with periodic reinvestigation within the last five (5) years.

•Experience with system/subsystem requirements development, analysis, and management using Requirements Management Tool, e.g., DOORS.

•Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.

•Experience with Digital Engineering.

•Experience in SAP security environment.

•Experience in Cost Account Management/Earned Value Management System

Salary Range: $107,300 – $160,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
