Exempt: The annual base salary range for this role is: $86,097 – $137,756 POSITION SUMMARY: This position designs, maintains, and controls the corporate databases and data dictionary. Establishes and enforces all database standards. Analyzes all informational requirements of new or production systems and develops database specifications. Establishes and enforces controls to ensure database integrity and security. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Analyzes and defines the properties required by a database management system (DBMS) that will meet the current and future needs of the company. Analyzes the organizational structure of the company and defines the logical database structure for current and future application development. Establishes, maintains, and controls the corporate data dictionary. Develops, documents, and enforces the standards for access to the database. Defines and implements security procedures to ensure the integrity and privacy of the database. Designs, implements, and periodically tests the database backup and recovery procedures. Defines procedures for testing and implementing new applications in the database environment. Analyzes current and projected future database performance; fine-tunes or recommends equipment changes when necessary. Develops database training guidelines for the analyst and end-user. Acts as mediator with different users to resolve conflicts of data naming conventions and ownership/privacy of data. Maintains knowledge of current and future DBMS technology through schools, seminars, and publications. Interacts with the technical support team and DBMS vendor to schedule installation and maintenance of the DBMS software Provides suggestions for changes, enhancements, and modifications to products Must be organized, driven and highly motivated with the ability to work independently Proven ability to think strategically about customer needs and develop creative solutions Self-starter with strong initiative and natural leadership qualities Results-oriented, driven, and organized OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Has authority to set and enforce database security, design, and performance standards. Establishes disaster recovery procedures to ensure retrieval on all data and system software. Provides technical knowledge to system designers and applications programmers to assist in their application development. Provides technical and Data Base Support to MIS organization 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ensure projects are completed by the defined schedules. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics or equivalent, and/or five years systems design and analysis and programming exposure. Training in file structures and design, information retrieval techniques, file access methods and controls, and development and documentation of standards. Previous experience with installation of a data dictionary and database system. Requires a strong technical background in credit union software and business operations, and a successful track record in the development of credit union software applications. 5 years experience with a software development company Strong working knowledge of data processing programming, systems design, problem analysis, and hardware. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team. Communication skills including written, oral, and presentation skills are required. Must be able to perform complex analysis and produce professional documentation and recommendations. A strong bias for action is essential. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union’s operating system and specialized software required for performance of position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
