FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

Familiarity with personnel data to include the HQ USAF Selection Folder, the Airman Promotion History File, and the Airman Promotion test File and knowledge of filing systems and the subject matter content of the materials being processed to sufficiently classify, retrieve, and dispose of materials is required.

Ability to interpret and apply procedural guidelines and personnel regulations and standards to a variety of unique situations is required.

Must be able to maintain currency of and stay abreast of changes in AFIs, AFMs, Directives, Policy, precedent cases, and Public Law Title 10, USC) governing airman promotions, demotions, and testing.
Must be familiar with policy letters, War Department Circulars and other historical guidance that governed WWII promotions and demotions.

Knowledge of Microsoft software applications is required.
Must know the processing procedures and function keys for performing a substantial range of functions within each software type.

Knowledge of and experience in staff-level work and skill in written and oral communications to coordinate and communicate propose recommendations and actions.
