Position description
The Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a tenured faculty position, to serve as Medical Director of the Kidney Transplantation Program. The candidate should be a clinically accomplished, and creative transplant nephrologist-scientist with a proven track record of academic achievement/research funding, and eligible for the full Professor level appointment. The candidate must have an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree, be board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and meet the OPTN/UNOS requirements for a medical director of a kidney transplant program. We seek a candidate with strong leadership, administrative, and clinical skills to oversee a large and growing transplant program. The starting salary will be commensurate based upon experience.
The kidney transplant program at UCLA is one of the most prominent in the US, performing over 400 transplants per year. The transplant program has over 60 dedicated personnel. The director’s clinical duties will consist of both inpatient and outpatient clinical professional leadership. Other responsibilities include leading a transplant-oriented research program, quality assurance and improvement, medical administration, professional recruitment, and participation in Transplant, Division, Department and Hospital meetings. This faculty position is expected to contribute to the research, clinical, and overall academic mission of the Department of Medicine and the Division of Nephrology. The Medical Director will also participate in the teaching of students, residents and fellows, as well as the mentoring junior faculty towards success in research and clinical activities.
