Operating Room Nurse

$15,000 Sign-on Bonus

Provides circulating and/or scrub nurse services in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists surgical team as needed in any other capacity, according to established procedures. Responsible for taking necessary precautions to decrease risk, and for the safety of patients. This role includes taking responsibility for communication among team members, traffic patterns in the OR suite, proper use of surgical attire, proper facilitation of personnel and supplies in, through and out of the unrestricted, semi-restricted and restricted areas of the OR. Maintaining storage requirements, sterile technique, smoke evacuation, and overseeing scrub tech duties. Other unit responsibilities may include participation in performance improvement, clinical education, staff meetings and record keeping. Maintains competencies. Overseen by the Manager of the Operating Room. Reports directly to the Perioperative Services Director.

Qualifications:

Has knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the Surgery Department. Has knowledge of growth and development over the life span. Must possess the ability to function in a team environment. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors and physicians. Must be able to relay information to appropriate personnel concerning a patient’s condition. Must have patience, tact and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as willingness to handle difficult situations. Strong organizational and time management skills. Embraces change and is able to handle multiple demands at one time.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • One-year experience in an acute care operating room, or two years in an outpatient operating room required
  • Two years acute hospital experience required
  • Current CA RN licensure
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS
  • CNOR preferred
