Position Summary:
The Supply Chain Quality Manager (SCQM) will be part of an international community, responsible for a portfolio of suppliers / vendors, ensuring supplier performance; capacity; de-risking and development needs are secured to meet the evolving business requirements. Training and development will be provided to ensure the required skills and competences are attained, aligned with the company’s methods and processes. In conjunction, a robust induction training plan will be developed to ensure training of product, methods, tools etc. are sequenced in a robust way.
This position is based in Los Angeles, CA with travel to supplier sites.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Work onsite at either the allocated supplier site or in an Airbus office minimum 3 days a week and will be required to be collocated to the Supplier Center of Gravity.
* Ensure maturity and robustness of Supplier’s manufacturing and supply chain processes to avoid supply failures
* Drive continuous improvement of Supply Chain related performances for deliveries of supplied products
* Review supplier capacity and capability to secure ramp-up period as well as Airbus industrial objectives (major planning changes, ramp down, etc.)
* Monitor and analyze performance through Key Performance Indicators and organizing the surveillance of the suppliers through audits, assessments, recovery plan and mission, CID (Corrective, Improvement, Development) and industrial risks management with internal and external concerned parties
* Initiate and organize supplier’s ramp-up capacity and capabilities assessments in order to secure ramp-up or major planning changes
* Monitor major industrial risks, major changes (industrial transfers, major planning changes) and supporting design changes on an industrial point of view in order to protect Airbus operations
* Initiate and follow recovery plans with Suppliers in case of delivery performances degradation to ensure deliveries are back to Airbus requirements
* Manage Suppliers’ preventive/corrective action plans so achievements are at the expected level in terms of end results.
* Prepare and support regular management reviews (PRM, Industrial Senior Management Meeting, and Quality Supply Chain Meetings) with suppliers to review regularly delivery and supply chain performances and ensuring that preventive/corrective & improvement actions are continuously undertaken.
* Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, such as MFT leaders, Programs and FALs (communication, customer / supplier relation & meetings, improvement actions).
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
* Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Industrial Engineering or similar or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Experience:
* Required: Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a procurement operations environment (monitoring and auditing suppliers)
* Previous Aerospace experience highly preferred
Licensure/Certifications:
* Preferred: Green Belt/Black Belt certification, CPIM certification (Certified in Production & Inventory Management)
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
* Required: Knowledge of Supply Chain and Quality Processes
* Preferred: Knowledge of Quality Regulations, Quality Core Tools Knowledge, Practical Problem Solving, International Mgmt. system standards, Authorities / Regulations / Standards, Knowledge of QMS, Auditing/Assessing, IPCA+ and CCP tools
Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
* English (Reading – Speaking – Writing: Fluent/Negotiation)
* Communicating at all levels within the supplier’s organization and Airbus to influence the decision making
* Ability to summarize complex industrial situations in a clear manner
* Team Player with excellent communication skills, customer-oriented, problem solving and flexible way of working.
Technical Systems Proficiency:
* Microsoft Office
* Google Suite proficiency highly preferred
Travel Required:
* 60% Domestic and International
* Valid Driver’s License required
Citizenship:
* Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Decision Making, Complexity:
The Job holder will be part of a team and will be able to act autonomously and but operationally driven by the Procurement commodity in Europe. The management support for the Job Holder is US based, as are the suppliers. Most internal customers will be based in Europe.
Organizational information:
The job holder will be part of the Airbus Americas Procurement team whose internal customer is the Procurement Operations organization in Europe primarily and all Airbus Final Assembly Lines (FALs).
Nature of Contacts:
Involved, negotiation type Communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties
Physical Requirements:
