Senior Mechanical Engineer

Primary function consists of preparation of HVAC and/or plumbing design for projects or portions of projects, including the analysis, calculations, research, and layout necessary to develop the design documents.

Read and understand the estimated scope of work for the project.

C.

Attend design kickoff meeting between Estimator, Project Manager, Engineering Manager (if applicable), and construction team if applicable.

D.

Specific design tasks include: Comprehensive knowledge of project requirements Lead Airco Mechanical project design team Equipment sizing and selection Layout of HVAC and/or Plumbing distribution systems Review of Title 24 Compliance Documentation Direct Mechanical Design Engineers on projects or portions of projects they are assisting with.

Meet all deadlines or communicate immediately at the onset what the realistic project timeline should be.

Specific design administration tasks include: Promptly respond to any questions or clarification requests from Project Manager or Foreman.

Provide revised plans and/or specs as necessary, according to project documentation requirements set forth by the architect.

Complete periodic site visits to confirm design implementation.

Develop ideas and strategies for how to construct systems more efficiently.

Apply standard practices and techniques in analyzing data and results and recognize practical solutions to basic engineering problems.

Always choose the least complex solution to a given problem that meets the requirements of the project.

G.

Coordinate design with other personnel working on same project and other trades involved with the project including the architect, structural engineer, civil engineer, electrical engineer, etc.

H.

Maintain professional written and verbal communication both inside and outside the company.

I.

Will be required to use personal transportation to attend meetings, jobsite visits, training events, or punch list walks on as-needed basis with minimal prior notification.

J.

Represent Airco Mechanical and the Engineering Department in a professional, competent manner at all times.

K.

Maintain professional appearance in anticipation of attending meetings with architects and engineers without prior notice.

L.

Continually develop and expand knowledge of HVAC & Plumbing systems and concepts and how to apply them.

Plan to attend periodic training sessions and events.

M.

Provide support, guidance and direction to mechanical design engineers.

Look for opportunity to teach new concepts and applications.

N.

Attend periodic networking events and build relationships.

O.

Delegate design task to mechanical design engineers that include the following but not limited to: Load calculations Title 24 documentation Equipment selection Layout and drafting QUALIFICATIONS A.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from a formally accredited University.

Equivalent combination of technical training and previous design experience may be an acceptable substitute in some cases.

B.

Minimum of 5 years of design experience directly related to HVAC and Plumbing design.

C.

Competency in the following software programs shall be a requirement of the position: Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat AutoCAD D.

Competency in the following software programs is desired: REVIT MEP Microsoft PowerPoint Trace 700 Load Calculation Software E.

Professional Engineer licensure is encouraged
