UX Opportunities – User Researchers, Interaction Designers, & Visual Designers

FactSet’s UX team is growing, and we are looking for User Researchers, Interaction Designers, and Visual Designers to help shape the next generation UI of our product suite.

If you like to tackle complex problems, design new solutions, and work in a collaborative environment, you’ll fit right in at FactSet.

Come join this award winning team (Advisor Dashboard was named Best in Portfolio Analytics by WealthManagement.com) and be at the forefront of re-thinking and re-envisioning how FactSet’s clients interact with our products and move throughout our overall solution.

What you can expect day to day:

  • Lead UX and product design for assigned apps across mobile, tablet, and desktop.

This could be a new trading application, research tool, or redesign of a current product.

You’ll own UX for that application and drive all design efforts.

  • Engage with product teams to ensure we are building the correct solution, addressing user needs, and delivering solutions that focus on outcomes over outputs.
  • Collaborate with other UX team members to deliver complete Figma wireframes that are validated, user-centric designs.

This could be working with our design system team on a new component, creating a test with user research to validate a design, or partnering with a visual designer improve UI elements.

  • Own the process and workflow for various components in our design system.

From ideation, to design jams, to Figma component construction you’ll work with visual design, research, and engineering to improve and build our new design system.

  • Drive UX culture across the organization by promoting design thinking, design principles, and managing expectations within product teams.

What we value as members of the UX team:

  • We collaborate early and often in and outside of the core UX group.
  • We have varied backgrounds and perspectives that bring something valuable to the table.
  • We help each other learn, grow, and become better designers.
  • We prioritize a healthy work-life balance because the best ideas come when we are engaged, not exhausted.
  • We focus on creating solutions instead of pointing out problems and limitations.
  • We care about our work and know the value of compromise.
  • We work to create a low ego environment with designs based on data and principles.
  • We appreciate and respect each other, while also having a good time at work.

As a Visual Designer, do you have…

  • Multi-platform responsive and adaptive design experience
  • Data visualization skills (think “charting”, not “infographics”)
  • Ability to present design vision in document and spoken forms, influence stakeholders and leadership, and successfully defend your design choices
  • Experience with Figma (what we use) but Sketch or Illustrator are also great
  • Demonstrated fluency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, iOS and Android platforms

As an Interaction Designer, do you have…

  • A portfolio of projects that show your design experience, leadership, interaction decisions, and impact on shipped software.

    – you focus on building solutions, information architecture, and driving consensus around those solutions.

  • You’ll be a leading advocate for user-centered design within FactSet and your project teams.
  • You are passionate about user-centered design with experience being a leader in your organization.

As a User Research, do you have…

  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies and contributing actionable research results to the software production process
  • Experience with a variety of research methodologies, including usability testing, contextual inquiries, card sorting, concept testing, cognitive walkthroughs, diary studies, field research, surveys, heuristic evaluations, persona development, task analysis, etc.
  • Able to choose appropriate methodologies or innovate flexible approaches to meet the goals of projects
  • Experience performing the full scope of study activities, including interviewing stakeholders to scope the project, defining relevant and answerable research questions, recruiting participants, conducting studies, summarizing and prioritizing participant feedback into key takeaways, recommending business and product opportunities based on research results, and presenting actionable findings to stakeholders
  • Able to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams, participate throughout the entire UX process, and inspire confidence in and respect for the contributions of user research to the product development process
