The Governance Specialist assists with all administrative aspects or governance matters providing support and evaluation of the corresponding governance program. Ensures assigned governance programs and projects are developed, implemented, monitored and managed. Duties include but are not limited to developing/reviewing relevant data collection, systems/tools that support data collection, policy and procedure creation, project tracker management, analysis and report writing. Evaluates governance subcomponents within a respective department or function.

What you’ll do:

Define and document business process practices and responsibilities and ownership of remediation activities and associated controls.
Participate in risk assessments, external regulatory examinations and internal audits as needed.
Contribute to the assignment of regulatory ratings for risk management, governance and controls.
Development and maintenance of comprehensive project management trackers for ensuring effective completion of reviews.
Development and maintenance of integrated performance measurement and reporting systems.
Evolving and managing cross functional processes to ensure data integrity and compliance across numerous and diverse user groups.
Support and/or develop governance solutions and processes using approaches such as system driven controls, master data management and reference data management, and documentation practices.
Collaborate with project planning and gap analysis sessions producing defined requirements.
Identify and implements surveillance processes for implemented controls and remediation efforts.
Responsible for preparing, reviewing and revising documentation such as policies, procedures, and issues trackers, maintaining and organizing audit files, conduct research and performing special projects.
Identify problems and issues to be addressed and proposes remediation action.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders for remediation activities; identify and track follow up.
Ensure compliance while retaining ethical considerations and plan solutions to issues.
Work closely with leaders and team members across all CIVIC to understand current workflow, procedures, and any changes to such.
Partner with I.T., Sales, and Operations department leaders regularly to understand usage of technology and process to ensure future changes consider user experience with regulatory compliance.
Work with Customer Experience to gain an understanding of how updates to process or documentation will possibly affect CIVIC’s customers.
Proactively meet with Creative Development team members to educate them on various facets of compliance and controls that affect their day-to-day actions.

What you’ll need:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience
3-5 years of proven direct or comparable experience in the financial industry, specifically governance, audit, risk management and control roles
Experience evaluating and supporting governance practices, a variety of risks facing complex financial institutions, and the ability to identify prudent practices for managing those risks
Professional certifications (FRM, CI, CISA) preferred
Proficient in MS Office
Well versed in technology and real estate lending operations
Thorough understanding of principles of application development, release, testing, maintenance, and support
Ability to listen and communicate clearly and logically at multiple levels in the organization and effectively articulate themes and conclusions both verbally and in writing
Strong problem solving and analytical skills that support and enable sound decision-making, and the ability to synthesize large amounts of complex, disparate information to formulate well-supported conclusions
Strong understanding of data quality and governance best practices
Strong communication skills, including presentation, verbal and written
Ability to shift priorities as needed to meet deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions, as well as independently when necessary
