Corporate & Investment Banking delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; investment banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe.

Commercial Real Estate (CRE) operates throughout the United States, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom, to deliver a comprehensive platform of financing and banking products for experienced commercial real estate companies including balance sheet lending, CMBS origination and distribution, loan servicing, agency financing for multifamily properties, and debt and equity capital for affordable housing.

Community Lending and Investment (CLI) is responsible for investing debt and equity capital for economic development, job creation and affordable housing in areas of need nationwide. The vertically integrated group offers a suite of debt and equity products, including Low Income Housing Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits, construction finance and permanent finance for affordable housing, and Charter School Finance, serving for-profit and non-profit developers and other organizations.

The Relationship Manager 2 role within Community Lending and Investment (CLI) will manage a book of clients focused on the affordable housing industry, specifically the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and address any and all of their banking needs.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting CLI debt team (RMs, analysts and OMs throughout the western region) with origination of loans for affordable housing projects. This includes analyzing new loan requests (i.e. identifying the best loan execution and assisting with the deal structure as well as pricing), assisting in the origination of loans (i.e. underwriting, due diligence, documenting and credit approval) and managing the loan origination process.
  • Assisting legal counsel and Loan Administration in the preparation and review of loan documents related to the closing of a transaction
  • Coordinating loan opportunities and strategy with Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) partners such as Wells Fargo Multifamily Capital (WFMFC) and Municipal Finance.
  • Maintaining the integrity of CLI’s loan program through compliance with permanent loan credit policy and underwriting guidelines
  • Developing strategies and identifying best practices for origination, portfolio management, reporting and servicing of the  loan portfolio in CLI
  • Managing relationships with our servicing partners, i.e. Loan Administration, Loan Center and Commercial Mortgage Servicing (CMS)
  • Assisting other team members with daily tasks and guidance as needed
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned
  • Complete quarterly status reports utilizing the Portfolio Review Tool (PRT) for each relationship and related loan(s) assigned. 

*The primary location for this role is in San Francisco, though well qualified candidates will be considered along the West Coast*

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of account relationship or credit analyst experience; or successful completion of Wells Fargo Wholesale Credit Management Training Program

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, applications, and utilize search tools to find information
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze financial metrics
  • Strong technical/computer skills to maintain various models, and handle multiple ad hoc requests
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including high level of proficiency in modeling

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial real estate balance sheet lending
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial industry LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit Investments)
