BOEING: Experienced Design And Analysis Engineer – Fleet Support (1st Shift)

The Boeing Company is seeking a Diagnostic Algorithm and Trend Analysis (DATA) Team Engineer (Level 4) to support Boeing Commercial customers in Seal Beach, California.

Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) Customer Support organization launched a new Diagnostic Algorithm and Trend Analysis (DATA) Team to accelerate Boeing’s capabilities with airplane data and provide value to airline customers.

The DATA Team members work to meet customer’s expectations of capabilities on Boeing’s newest models and also focus on how to utilize the data provided by new airplane functionality being introduced into current and future Boeing models.

The DATA Team integrates tools, processes, and people who are focused on using data to provide superior customer support to our airline customers.

As part of the Customer Support DATA Team, you will work on the utilization of all forms of data received from Boeing airplanes, including Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), Airplane Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) Reports, Airplane Health Management (AHM), Flight Data Recorder (FDR), and Quick Access Recorder (QAR) to develop predictive algorithms to avoid component failures and proactive algorithms for preventative maintenance to avoid Schedule Interruptions, Air Turn Backs, and Airplane On Ground situations.

Position Responsibilities: Develops tools and processes to store, access, and analyze airplane data.

Researches Avionics, e-Enabling, Electrical, Mechanical, or Propulsion technical and operational issues experienced by our customers that can be candidates for Diagnostic Algorithm & Trend Analysis.

Develops predictive algorithms for component failures.

Develops proactive algorithms for preventative maintenance.

Leads and directs cross-functional teams to perform analysis of airplane data, with the goal of predicting component failure and initiating preventative maintenance.

Leads development of advanced fault isolation using airplane data.

Builds airplane data analysis capabilities across the Customer Support organization.

Develops next generation data analysis tools for data trending and analysis.

Steers future development programs with data acquisition.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.

§ 120.15 is required.

“US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.

3+ years of project management and integration experience.

3+ years of experience in Avionics, e-Enabling, Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Propulsion Systems.

High-quality written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience in Customer Support with existing Boeing tools such as My Boeing Fleet, Maintenance Toolbox, and Airplane Health Management (AHM).

3+ years of experience working directly with 737 aircraft.

Experience working with cross functional teams.

Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.

Experience working with data and trending analysis.

Engineering experience on 7-series aircraft programs.

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
