Receptionist Veterinary Hospital

We don’t need to hire often. We are a team and not just an organization or a job. Our employees join and stay.We are growing??.We were a small, one-doctor specialty veterinary clinic with four employees. We are still small, but we are now a two-doctor specialty clinic and we need first one or two more employees. The qualifications for this position are more focused on who you are and not what you know (or have already done). Yes, experience is preferred, but it is not required. Our clients expect to be cared about, and their companion animals expect to be cared for. If you have that, “wow!” factor, a cheery disposition, patience beyond measure, and most importantly, a love animals and a hope to remain in the animal care industry, then please respond to our ad. This is not just a summer job or a stepping stone position. This is not a placeholder while searching for “something better.” We know we are that “something better.”We hope this will build into a career for you (placing ads and interviewing people is not enjoyable …. for anyone). The job:The position we need to fill is that of receptionist.Receptionist functions include greeting clients and patients, checking them into or out of the clinic, answering phones, scheduling appointments, computer record input, and reviewing instructions and treatment recommendations. There will be lots of “phone time.”General cleaning duties ? for the waiting room, exam rooms, and treatment areas ? as needed. (This is a shared duty by all.)A basic knowledge of biology and medicine will be most helpful to facilitate communications. There will be a steep learning curve — but if you are interested and willing, we’re sure you can do it.Basically, we are a small clinic. Everyone does what is needed to take care of the practice. We have a head receptionist and a head technician — who have been with us a very long time. And we’ve four other employees who have been with us for several years. (And none of us is planning to go anywhere else.)This position is more of receptionist than assistant ? but there are no barriers to helping out. Good customer service, a logical mind, and a dedication to work are priorities. This position requires availability to work both Friday and Saturday. We are not corporate. This is not a clock-in, clock-out job. Again, this is NOT a clock-in, clock-out, out-of-the-office, out-of-mind kind of place. Consider this a family-run business, because after all these years, it is hard for us not to become like family. We expect flexibility, and we allow flexibility (with reasonable accommodation). We want to get to know who you are and, well, you will certainly get to know who we are (the doctors like to talk). If you apply, we expect that you plan to stay (if the job is to our mutual satisfaction), and frankly, we expect that you will want to stay.If you have managed to read through all this — and still think this might be the perfect place to work for many years — we look forward to hearing from you. And we look forward to meeting you (the doctor is old(er) and still requires applicants to come into the practice to fill out a (real) paper application.Job Type: Full-timePay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hourBenefits:Employee discountPaid time offSchedule:10 hour shift8 hour shiftWeekend availabilityEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)Computer Skills: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location:One locationWork Remotely:No
