Our client a private investment and management firm is looking to add an experienced Senior Project Accountant who will be responsible for the accounting, tracking, and reporting of all construction-related projects. The firm’s current real estate investment strategy focuses on developing and investing in commercial income properties, multi-family, student housing, and luxury homes, and land entitlement. This position reports to the VP, Controller.Project Accountingo Prepare Construction/Development Project Cost Control & Reporting Package.
o Review monthly construction pay applications (702/703) and supporting documents.
o Prepare and maintain construction loan draws.
o Reconcile job costs report to CIP GL accounts.
o Monitor percentage of completion, contingency, and retention.
o Track preliminary notices, conditional waivers, certificates of insurance, etc.
o Record project invoices by job, cost category, and draw number.Corporate Accountingo Assist in managing the timeliness of Financial Statements, Bank Reconciliations, and all other monthly reporting/closing procedures.
o Prepare and analyze the financial statements, general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and budgets.
o Reviews and reconciles accounts payable, accounts receivable and maintain a schedule of all balance sheet accounts.
o Reconcile, verify and validate all entries and postings to balance sheet and income statement accounts.
o Perform daily activities such as receive checks, post receipts, prepare deposits and bank reconciliations.
o Assist in managing working capital, including weekly cash report updates, and initiating and recording transfers/wires.
o Contributes to the development of accounting procedures and strategies to improve efforts, record keeping and account management including exploring new tools and software.
o Reviews budget comparison for accuracy and performs re-class and accruals as needed.
o Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations for assigned portfolio.
o Reconcile vendor accounts and ensure payments are up to date.
o Prepare analysis of accounts, such as expense distribution, AP aging, check register and other required reports during month end.
o Assists with monthly actual to budget variance analysis.
o Assists with internal and external audits.
o Assists with annual budget preparations.Recommended Requirements:– Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance and at least 5 years of experience within an accounting environment.
– 4-10 years’ experience working in accounting department preparing financials.
– Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
