VP Product & Technology Finance

As Company continues to build Finance capabilities that accelerate growth and optimize value, we are looking for a VP of Finance for our Product & Technology organization. In this role you will be the senior finance business partner to our Chief Technology Officer and his Product, Technology and CIO leadership teams. The role is responsible for providing financial insights and analytics to aid decision making, partnering with the business on strategy and execution to enable and accelerate long term growth for Company, and bringing understanding and predictability to Company’s spend / financials. The position will balance maintaining financial control while guiding the business to short term and long-term division road map goals, providing strategic decision support through financial analyses to ensure appropriate ROI. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strategic thinker, excellent communicator, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The VP of P&T Finance will help develop and drive our infrastructure and Product strategies, lead the long-range planning and annual budgeting processes, as well as reporting and data analysis efforts to provide insights to your business partners. Reporting to the SVP of Finance, this role is highly visible and will interact frequently with the CFO, CTO, and other C-Level executives. 

Roles and Responsibility (list in order of importance)  

  • Be the Finance Business Partner to the P&T team, leading strategic and financial planning processes, including R&D planning, opex planning, and headcount allocation
  • Serve as a thought leader in shaping the financial framework for Company’s P&T organizations 
  • Work with product and technology leaders to establish the financial goals and measure progress throughout the year, highlighting finance recommendations on course of action, including providing a decision framework for optimizing resource allocations in a fast-paced environment
  • Become an embedded business partners across the company, establishing trust and become a key advisor to the CTO, CIO, and leadership teams
  • Develop framework for effective management, analysis of relevant business drivers, ROI analysis and business recommendations of strategic investments
  • Establish key business metrics and KPIs to measure performance of the business, while proactively highlighting areas of risks and opportunity
  • Develop consistent productivity frameworks, with a data driven approach, to drive decision making on resource investments by product and/or geography with recommendations to enhance productivity and accelerate growth
  • Finance owner of potential strategic partnerships evaluations that align with the product strategy roadmap, working closely across Product Strategy, Strategic Partnership team as well as multiple Finance functions
  • Help develop product long range plan (LRP) framework, evaluate performance against the plan and ensure product road map is aligned across other functional LRPs (Sales, Marketing, Customer Team)
  • Deliver analysis as the primary finance partner that help set budgets, drive cost-to-serve improvements, business cases, and new product initiatives
  • Develop annual operating plans, quarterly and monthly financial forecasts, and ongoing analysis of actuals versus plan and/or forecast.
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances. Work with team members to enhance global financial and operational performance trends (historical and forecasted) using appropriate metrics.
  • Collaborate with leaders in our product organization to benchmark and optimize product & engineering resources.
  • You will provide counsel on financial matters that focus on expense control and profitability of the business. Suggest trends, resulting implications, key actions and strategic implications.
  • You will collaborate and coordinate with cross functional departments to ensure smooth and timely execution.
  • Effectively hire, supervise, develop and motivate a team of 2-4.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience building, developing, and leading Finance function(s) for public companies, ideally in a $500M – $1BN+ revenue company
  • Sales Finance experience at a high-growth SaaS or software company
  • Deep understanding of P&L components, unit economics, commercial functions, and common SaaS metrics
  • Proven track record of developing people, leading and managing high-performing teams
  • Strong executive leadership skills with experience partnering at the executive management levels; you are viewed as a trusted and objective advisor
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and proven stakeholder management and influencing skills; must build collaborative working relationships with teams across the organization
  • Finance minded with strong operational focus to drive process, systems, and execution in a scalable and repeatable way
  • Strong analytical capabilities and business acumen with the ability to simplify and distill complex business information in a consumable way
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a can-do attitude
  • Superior software and system skills (e.g., Adaptive Planning, Microsoft Excel) a must. SAP, SuccessFactors, Salesforce.com, Tableau and programming expertise (SQL, R, Python) experience a plus.
  • Strong customer service / success orientation and a desire to help others succeed.

Years of Experience in Related Field: 12-15 years experience in Finance and Strategy, working in high growth environments, preferably enterprise SaaS companies 

EducationBA/BS degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Strategy or similar.  Advanced degree preferred
