Controller

Johnson Service Group is assisting our global manufacturing client with a Controller opportunity for its flagship plant near Columbia, MO. The incumbent will serve as a business partner to the factory manager for the development of business models, while optimizing the financial performance within the plant. They will effectively support business decisions by monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting financial data to evaluate various business alternatives and recommend the most appropriate business solutions. They will drive the definition and implementation of standards and business specific guidelines within the financial control processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the definition of financial strategies for the business unit. Serve as the key partner for the Factory Manager to develop business models, align wider strategies, implementation, and marketing adjustments in as needed. Maintain constant contact with all relevant managers and Controllers regarding financial, market and customer situation, and outlook.
  • Translate strategies into business plans and establishes measurable targets. Oversee the business planning and forecasting processes of the HUB, Region, Global Functions and Global Business Unit. Evaluate financial implications of various strategic decisions, building scenarios, and recommending actions as needed.
  • Monitor achieved progress to provide insight and analysis in supporting operational decision-making. Identify issues, and advise management on action plans and operational strategies, driving appropriate cost structure, productivity optimization, and capital efficiency. Manage and closely monitors cash flow, taking actions to improve Net Working Capital.
  • Asses business risk exposure, defining risk mitigation strategies to reduce impact on business performance. Ensure risk management processes are consistently implemented in own area of responsibility, identifying, and communicating commercial and financial risks and opportunities from business propositions. Drive the definition and implementation of global standards and business specific guidelines to ensure continuous improvement in the financial control process.
  • Lead, guide and facilitate best practice sharing between Local Business Controllers and within own area of responsibility to ensure timely and efficient communication with relevant Local, HUB, Region, Global Function, Global BU Controllers, and other internal customers. Identify and discuss issues for improvement of operations, work quality and efficiency for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure transparency in financial reporting and disclosures, defining and implementing internal controls regarding financial and non-financial operations. Ensure compliance with corporate and regional standards, regulations, and guidelines to support internal and external audits. Ensure high quality of financial data and business information in line with defined standards and financial closing schedules.
  • Ensure that the area of responsibility, along with direct/indirect subordinates are organized, staffed, skilled, directed, motivated, and developed in accordance with the HR team and standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance or related field, with 10 years of progressive experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Post graduate degree, MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • Supervisory or management experience required.
  • SAP knowledge required.
