In this critical role, youwill be responsible for managing a budget of $245 million while supervising andguiding a dedicated staff of financial and support professionals. You will develop,monitor and manage an operating budget, supporting faculty and staff as you overseeand administer various federal, state, county, private donation, and othergrant and contract funds. You will:

  • Provide analyses and counsel
  • Perform high-level financial forecasting and budget planning
  • Formulate, implement and monitor internal policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Oversee all internal/external financial reporting
  • Lead administrative staff in monitoring departmental budgets
  • Support faculty salary negotiation, budget process and budget meetings
Qualifications

We’re seeking a highly-effective leader with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting,finance, economics, or business administration
  • Advanced degree in accounting orbusiness administration (preferred)
  • Ability to lead, supervise, andmentor a mid-size professional staff (>12)
  • Experience managing a minimum of$50 million budget
  • Twelve or more years ofexperience in financial management leadership role with demonstrated ability torun the day to day of a fiscal management office, (preferred)
  • Three to five years’ of experiencein Academic setting- preferablyin UC health sciences
  • In-depth knowledge of GenerallyAccepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),
  • Proven expertise in performingadvances accounting and financial functions
  • Solid background managingfunding categories from state, ICR, clinical operations, compensation plans,gift/endowment, and sales/service
  • Ability to make budgetaryassumptions, develop accounting treatments, determine financial trends, and createbusiness break-even models
  • Exceptional assessment,analytical, organizational, math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to serve as thefinancial advisor for all levels of leadership
  • Advanced proficiency with MicrosoftExcel and Access
  • Thorough understanding of UCLA financial and payroll systems, database, processes and applications (highly preferred)
