Accounting Manager, Title & Escrow

We are looking for a Title & Escrow Accounting Manager to join our Controllership Group.

The individual will report to the T&E Controller and will work with the various T&E subsidiaries across the organization.

This position will be primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day aspects of title and escrow trust accounts, including handling deposits and remittances to underwriters and other parties, verifying revenue recognition as per US GAAP, investigating account discrepancies, reconciling accounts and managing the related customer service aspects.

Additionally, the individual will help build processes around title and escrow to improve efficiency and internal control within the function.

At Compass You Will Own the accounting function for various T&E subsidiaries and collaborate with the local teams Oversee and own the daily reconciliation of funds received in the trust accounts Review the daily maintenance of title and escrow activities, including funds management (incoming and outgoing), and resolution of account discrepancies Ensure proper and consistent application of revenue recognition across entities as per US GAAP Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations for trust accounts Review the month-end close process in accordance with US GAAP Responsible for the upload and reconciliation of the monthly financial results into the Global ERP system Assist the T&E Controller with the monthly reporting package as well as with budgeting support Collaborate with the T&E finance teams regarding internal reporting and other requests Ensure local compliance rules are adhered to in the various markets Provide excellent customer service by proactively managing escalated issues and bringing them to resolution Assist with the resolution of account discrepancies by collaborating with the internal teams, with underwriters, as well as with escrow and title officers Assist with building and maintaining a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over title and escrow activities across various markets Coordinate various state audits as well as underwriter audits related to the trust accounts Coordinate with external auditors regarding the financial audit as well as controls testing Collaborate with the internal controls team on establishing and maintaining controls Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in accounting Certified Public Accountant (CPA), strongly preferred 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3 or more years of supervisory experience 3 years of title and escrow experience, strongly preferred Experience working with various accounting systems, a plus Experience working in large businesses across multiple geographical entities, preferred Advanced knowledge of US GAAP coupled with exceptional planning and organization skills Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with cross functional teams Strong communication and organizational skills as well as impeccable attention to details Ability to multi-task and handle several deadlines simultaneously Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills Advanced excel skills, required Experience with QuickBooks, Rynoh, SoftPro, Simplifile or RamQuest, a plus Do your best work, be your authentic self.
