but our greatest investment is in you!The Underwriter I (UW I) facilitates the underwriting function to ensure loan packages present an appropriate level of risk and continuous production of business products that are compliant with all regulations of law and internal company principles.

This role has the ability to independently decision loans which fit guidelines for loan amounts up to $500,000 per Civic’s Authority Matrix.

Larger loan amounts and deal exceptions may also be underwritten with a required risk management second review process.What you’ll do:Prepare careful, detailed analysis of loan packages to determine if a potential borrower presents an appropriate level of risk; performs all necessary functions to effectively and efficiently process underwriting role.

Will conduct a continuous underwriting of assigned loans to ensure effectiveness and proactivity for any upcoming requirements.Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures, using this knowledge to make sound judgements on every package reviewed.Ensure a high level of understanding of business products, process flow, and financial underwriting practices.

Has a demonstrated knowledge of manual underwriting and data validation.Evaluate applications for loans and with independent decision making regarding whether to approve for financing.

Maintains a monthly total of 50 or more initial and final decision making productivity.Ability to underwrite loans up to $500,000 as per the company’s Authority Matrix.Communicates and is transparent of any encountered loan issues and discrepancies.

Holds self accountability.Fosters a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximize employee morale and productivity.Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.Supports development of peers and self.What you’ll need:Associate’s Degree from an accredited college required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; or a combination of education and experience.5+ years’ underwriting, loan processing or quality control experience; 2+ years’ experience inprivate/hard money lending space preferred.Working knowledge and use of MS Office, imaging system and internet.
