Accounting Manager – Real Estate Investment Firm

We are seeking an Accounting Manager in Los Angeles, CA. Essential Job Functions Accounting Analytically review JV financial statement for properties assigned, make inquiries, and request adjustments by cooperating with XX department and XX accounting team. Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information. Answer accounting and financial questions from internal/outside parties by researching and interpreting data. Prepare the reporting package to Tokyo headquarter and related parties including Stravis reporting. Assist budgeting by providing detailed account information. Make a necessary coordination with financial auditors. Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Make necessary coordination with other departments and outside parties for accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and cash flow. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness. Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes. Responsible for all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash applications, collections, and payroll) Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements. Manage general ledger accounting functions. Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested. Research, select and review accounting principal applications for existing and new projects. Coordinate and solve accounting issues with outside parties such as auditors and partners. Tax and Reports Receive, control and forward tax information from JVs, such as Form K-1, with partners. Prepare miscellaneous reports to authorities for miscellaneous taxes, such as Form 1099, 1042, property tax, and business tax, by coordinating with outside vendors. Manage necessary corporate tax coordination, such as estimated tax, extension, and provision, with outside tax return preparer. Comply with all federal, state, and local protocols including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation. Monitor tax filing status and make necessary coordination with the tax authority. Research, select and review corporate tax applications for existing and new projects. Coordinate and solve tax issues with outside parties such as auditor and partners. Assist acquisition activity by simulating corporate tax as necessary. Finance Monitor and project daily cash flow for company operation and make necessary coordination with the headquarter. Assist and support Vice President of Finance for his/her daily projects and activities. Accounts Payable and Receivable Verify payment requests and cash transfer requests and post all bill and payment entries or journal entries. Prepare payments by wire transfer, ACH, print check, or intra-bank transfer, and have approval. Coordinates with banks as necessary. Verify and process cash receipts and post journal entries. Perform bank reconciliation. Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances. Stop/Void payments as necessary and handle rejection alerts from banks. Check and verify employee expense reimbursement requests, post bill entries on the accounting system and create ACH payments. Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions. Maintains historical records. Other Administration Support Company fixed-asset management in pertaining to inventories in the book. Manage database on approval system (Kintone) and accounting system (Sage 50) Take care of other administrative tasks as requested by Vice President and other departments. Respond to questions/requests from the headquarters as needed. Qualifications Education A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university. Work Experience At least ten (10) years of experience in the area of accounting and/or finance in the financial or/and real estate industry preferred. Minimum five (5) years of experience with Corporate/HQ level of Accounting Manager is a must. Skill Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and complex accounting matters. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Accounting/financial software experience with system implementation (for a plus). Thorough understanding of internal control design and practice. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization. Thorough knowledge of U.S. and international taxation. Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results. Bilingual Japanese/English or minimum proficiency (Read/Write/Speak) in Japanese is preferred.
