Zankou Chicken is looking for a highly dedicated controller to lead our finance and accounting team!
We’re a growing, family-owned restaurant chain seeking a proactive accounting professional who wants to be challenged to learn and grow with our company!
Responsibilities:
Help develop company’s growth strategy, find partners (banks, etc.) that would provide sufficient funds to meet the strategy and supply all the information needed to those partners in a timely and highly-effective manner
Identify opportunities to reduce cost of sale and increase overall performance, driving improvement in performance by recommending innovative solutions identified through analysis of past and current performance
Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress, trends and changes
Perform monthly reconciliations, post adjusting journal entries, and provide useful variance analysis as appropriate
o Full ownership of building budgets and key forecasts, ensuring integrity of the financial results and compliance with relevant Company Finance policies
Assess personnel and system requirements
Coordinate all audit and/or review activity.
o Maintain close working relationship with company bank, auditors, and insurance carriers/brokers
o Performance management and development planning of the Finance team, conducting training needs and analyses, and provide appropriate staff training
o External reporting including sales and use tax
o Implement effective and efficient policies and procedures.
Identify areas that would benefit from the implementation of policies and/or procedures.
Manage accounting functions including general accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, fixed assets, A/P, A/R, and invoicing.
Cash flow management
Provide timely response to requests for information/analyses from senior management.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly departmental financial statements including balance sheets, income statements and cash flows
Manage and report on strategic cash flow initiatives including detailed model preparation and presentation
Create, prepare and present other useful management reports to the shareholders on an as needed basis including billing realization reports, and budget vs.
actual analysis
Facilitate financial projections and budgeting
Recommend and monitor an effective internal control environment by proper assignment and segregation of duties over direct reports and cooperation with related departments
Prepare regulatory filings including property tax statements, 1099s, and sales tax returns.
Provide all necessary financial materials to outside CPA firm in preparation for tax returns
