The reliability and effectiveness of thousands of Aethercomm products has been tested and proven in combat, helping to protect and save the lives of our warfighters.Aethercomm is looking to fill a Sustaining Engineer position.Scope: The purpose of this standard procedure is to establish and define the functional role, requirements, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities and measurements of performance of the Sustaining Engineer at Aethercomm.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.Requires strong RF technical background with the ability to troubleshoot difficult DC/RF electrical issues associated with complex, sophisticated electronic assemblies (Largely Solid-State High Power RF Amplifiers).Test/Tune/Troubleshoot/Verify Small Signal and High Power RF electronic circuits for core RF parameters with little to no assistance and on a variety of test equipment types/make/model.

Typical parameters include, but are not limited to: Power, Phase, Phase Noise, Isolation, Linearity, VSWR, Noise Figure, Switching Speeds, ALC functionality, and Digital Logic.Able to operate core RF test equipment without guidance and able to train technicians to do the same (Function Generator, Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Vector Network Analyzer, RF Switches, Couplers, Cabling, RF Power meters and Probes Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, Digital Multimeters, Thermal Probes, etc.).Create/Maintain/Update RF Tuning Maps/Guidelines for Production tuning requirements.

Train and/or certify Production Test Technicians to release RF Tuning Map/Guideline requirements.Test/Verify/Calibrate Test Bench setups to create/confirm/maintain calibration offsets to ensure reliable and consistent test data and troubleshoot issues.Work closely with Design and Test Engineering to ensure manufacturability and testability of new and existing designs.

Investigate potential cost savings or value enhancements.Provide engineering support to the Design Engineering, Test Engineering and Production Test departments as required.Review and update design records to ensure current and accurate design information.Regularly review test data and failure trends to eliminate waste and improve product and production capabilities, as a team member and in support of internal FRACAS (Failure Root Cause and Corrective Action System) team.Ensure timely identification of RMA issues and review for trends to identify root cause and corrective action, as required.Provide engineering support and technical leadership of FAR (Failure Analysis Reports) requirements.Assist in redesign efforts when component obsolescence occurs.Review test plans, procedures, test reports and data for correctness.Provide leadership and mentoring for production test team.Identify bottlenecks on production line, test and provide solutions to technical challenges.Respond to customer inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within scope of knowledge or refer to an employee of higher classification.Ensure that projects are completed accurately and on time.Assist with paraprofessional activities including design preparation and other related technical support.Inform the direct manager of extraordinary conditions.Ensure company compliance in accordance with AS9100.Check email daily and respond, as appropriate.Competencies:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education:A Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.), Master’s Degree (M.S.) preferred, from a four-year college or university in the electronics or physics disciplines, and three or more years of related experience; or 10 or more years of experience as a Senior RF Technician.

Electronics Trade Schools or Military Electronics training may satisfy educational requirements.Work Experience:Three or more years related work experience and/or training with RF amplifiers or other RF devices; High Power RF (50W-kW) experience preferred.

Familiarity with Military Electronics Requirements preferred.

Ability to work under demanding delivery schedules to meet company and customer commitments.Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Has the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Has the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Higher level mathematics such as calculus is also required.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Has the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer/Software Skills:MS Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook), PDF, General Computer skills.

Experience with execution of LabView applications and data analysis in Excel (Pivot Tables, etc.) preferred.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
