The Senior Manager, Counsel position is a mid-level attorney position that will be responsible for helping the Company respond to, manage, and prevent litigation and disputes.
This new position will join a team of highly collaborative, motivated legal professionals, who have a passion for the business and contributing to the Company’s dynamic work environment.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
Keep abreast of developments on a variety of legal topics to ensure compliance with laws and regulations Assist with advising business units on potential legal risks Assist with management of litigation and disputes (including working with outside counsel and vendors as needed) Assist with internal and regulatory investigations (EEOC, DFEH, OSHA, FTC, among others) Assist with design and implementation of policies and procedures Assist with discovery and records requests (including, among other things, responding to subpoenas and garnishments) Support various legal operations (including, among other things, litigation holds, e-discovery, and document retention) Assist with special projects and initiatives with cross-functional teams as needed Perform additional duties as assigned
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Licensed to practice in the U.S.
(active and in good standing) 3 to 5 years of business litigation experience as an attorney in a top-tier law firm Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and project management skills Ability to collaborate effectively within the legal department and across the business Ability to travel periodically as needed Experience in-house and/or with the direct sales industry a plus
