Insomnia Clinic Psychologist

Responsibilities

The UCLA Insomnia Clinic is looking to hire a part-time Psychologist to join our new clinic focused on insomnia treatment using cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Primary duties include:

  • Providing assessment and treatment for insomnia patients with group therapy sessions using the CBT-I.
  • Running therapy sessions using cognitive-behavioral therapy that is specifically structured for insomnia treatment (i.e., cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia [CBT-I]
  • Reviewing intake notes written by the clinic psychiatrist, initial self-report questionnaires, sleep diary, and other relevant documents and for formulating each individual case before starting the group
  • Evaluating the progress of each individual patient based on sleep diary, self-report questionnaires, homework, and clinical interactions during the group sessions
  • Writing progress notes and entering clinical data into the electronic medical records system without delay
  • Communicating with patients in between therapy sessions regarding clinical and administrative issues
  • Providing each patient with the feedback on their progress
  • Informing the patients, at the conclusion of the treatment program, of the next steps such as relapse prevention, when to seek further help from the Insomnia Clinic, and, if needed, referral to the alternative treatment modality (Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy if CBT-I was insufficient)
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary range: $50.02-$65.97 Hourly

Qualifications

PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology and current California State license
Previous experience working with insomnia patients
Previous experience with CBT-I
Previous clinical supervision experience (preferred)
Strong computer skills including word processing, e-mail systems, spreadsheets, and electronic medical records
Able to work and practice professional relationships with other therapists, medical personnel, and patients
Collaborative, able to work both independently and as part of a team
Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally (in person or by video or phone conference) and in writing
A minimum of two years with insomnia patients is preferred
