Medical Assistant Job Description: Prepare rooms for the day.
Escort patients to room.
Prepare patients for examinations.
Record vitals such as height, weight, head circumference (if age appropriate), blood pressure, and heart rate.
Ask parent or patient about the reason for their visit, and document what they say.
Obtain and document the birth history for all new patients less than 1 year old.
Obtain and document the family medical history of patient.
Relay messages as may be required by physicians.
Obtain lab and diagnostic testing results as needed.
Obtain prior authorizations for infusions to include both for the facility, home care vendor, and medication as needed.
Gather all pertinent medical information to submit to facilities or home care providers.
Clean and restock rooms and equipment.
Candidate must be able to multi-task by working the front desk as well as being able to room patients and take vitals.
