Vice President, Indirect Procurement

General Summary:

The person in this role is responsible for developing and driving Qualcomm’s global procurement strategy while managing $1B+ in spend across all indirect spend categories. This executive will lead a procurement organization to support the strategic objectives of the company, enact process improvements, and lead associated cost transformations. Critically, the Head of Indirect Procurement is charged with spearheading the commercial relationships with the entire indirect procurement supply base. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead global indirect procurement organization across all major geographies ($1B+ spend)
  • Development / execution of a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with broader supply chain and business objectives.
  • Supplier selection, management, rationalization, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Directly oversee all commercial aspects, including business strategies, goals, costs, performance, contracts, negotiations
  • Negotiation to achieve favorable agreements that yield ongoing cost savings and continuity of supply/service.
  • Generation and Execution of performance & process improvement initiatives to implement operational excellence practices across the procurement organization.
  • Collaborates frequently and seamlessly with all internal stakeholders on meeting their needs for products/software/services
  • Collaborates with rest of Procurement and Operations teams on total supply chain cost optimization and cross-benchmarking
  • Sets leadership example for global team
  • Organizational design, recruiting and talent management for the procurement organization

Candidate Profile 

Qualcomm is seeking a highly accomplished leader with significant experience in procurement, and preferably in indirect/corporate procurement at a large scale. Specifically, Qualcomm will be looking for the following knowledge, experience, and core leadership competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business/economics, or a related field of study.
  • Fifteen (15) years of operational leadership experience with a strong focus and background in procurement and strategic sourcing.
  • Six (6) years of leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in a related field of study.
  • Twenty (20) years of operational leadership experience with a strong focus and background in procurement and strategic sourcing.
  • Ten (10) years of leadership experience.
  • Deep expertise with complex and disparate procurement models across a vast supply base.
  • Specific industry expertise on suppliers providing products/services across IT, Marketing, Legal, HR, Consulting, semiconductor equipment.
  • Experience and capabilities required for setting the strategic direction and leading a centralized indirect procurement organization at a scale of $1B+ in spend.
  • History of driving continuous & aggressive cost reductions and process improvements in the face of ongoing macro business/corporate challenges
  • Strong negotiation skills and leadership, strong financial and business acumen
  • Record of significant accomplishment forming effective partnerships with business units in support of strategic goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of the relevant supply base and key suppliers within the supplier ecosystem.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt effectively in a dynamic market environment.
  • Global mindset and cultural sensitivity; ability to engage with colleagues and suppliers across a global footprint.

 Pay range:

$239,000.00 – $358,500.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
