ABOUT SOLA IMPACT:

SoLa Impact is a real estate private equity firm with a double bottom line strategy focused on preserving, rehabbing, and building high-quality affordable housing in low-income communities.

The driving force behind SoLa Impact’s social impact mission is one word: Access. SoLa and the Social Impact team work to open access to Housing, Jobs, Education and Capital. Our mandate is to be a major part of the solution to ending the housing and homelessness crisis in the city and provide pathways to create intergenerational wealth and economic security.

The work done by this team includes a robust resident relations program and service matching with a community of more than 50 partnerships. In addition, SoLa established an affiliated non-profit, the SoLa Foundation, to help deepen SoLa’s community impact. The SoLa Foundation works to end intergenerational poverty through opening new access to educational and community development opportunities.

The SoLa Technology and Entrepreneurship Center Powered by Riot Games is the foundation’s marquee initiative. The center works to train and inspire a new generation of Black and brown tech and entertainment leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals. The Center opened in January 2022 and has served nearly 4000 students in two years. Through after school programs the center offers career training tracks in 1) Technology; 2) Entrepreneurship; 3) Arts, Media and Entertainment; 4) Esports and Video Game Design and production. In addition, SoLa launched a home ownership pilot in 2023 to help families achieve home ownership in 3-5 years. There is no other institution in Los Angeles that offers this collection of services with such high levels of data driven impact.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ total experience (of which 7 have been managing growing teams).
  • Ability to provide executive leadership in the oversight, measurement, verification, management, reporting, and improvement of the company’s social impact initiatives.
  • Strong skills in developing relationships with investors, partners and other external relationships.
  • Advanced abilities to lead organizational development in a highly dynamic setting responsive to complex and changing environments.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other marketing-oriented software.
  • The ability to provide strong content, thought leadership, and strategic insights to effectively scale our social impact.
  • Executive level communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Possess a can-do, no nonsense, entrepreneurial spirit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of (5) direct reports
  • Implement revised operational procedures, well-defined KPIs, operational performance tracking, etc.
  • Manage initiatives aimed at improving processes, reducing costs and enhancing offerings; define metrics for successful operations.
  • Support the management of activities within the Social Impact department, including reporting, development, planning, evaluation, and learning. Ensure that projects and initiatives are executed efficiently, effectively, on or under budget and that the department’s goals are achieved.
  • Lead social impact business strategy and progress of key internal initiatives.
  • Provide oversight to achieve measurable increases in resident satisfaction and engagement.
  • Provide strategic guidance on SoLa’s messaging and editorial voice on important social issues such as homelessness, economic development/job creation, community engagement, and opportunities for youth. Contribute to the development of strategies to address these issues and guide the implementation of new and existing initiatives.
  • Oversee the production and publication of SoLa’s annual impact report. Ensure that the report accurately reflects our social impact efforts and is made public as soon as practical after year-end. Collaborate with relevant departments to incorporate the report into the company’s strategic reporting.
  • Provide leadership on external-facing work, including media engagements, events, and community engagement. Represent SoLa as an organizational spokesperson. Building and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align impact efforts with effective marketing campaigns and communication.
