Our Bastion db5 Los Angeles team is in search of a Strategy Director to support new and existing client relationships.

He/She will be immediately adaptable to the flexible and innovative culture we champion at Bastion db5.

The Strategy Director role is strategic with full responsibility for managing a team and roster of accounts.

The focus is on directing and developing relationships across Bastion db5, our partners, prospective partners and clients, including “owning” client relationships.

The Strategy Director is expected to play a significant role in shaping the company Bastion db5 becomes and in winning business.

Key responsibilities include:
Having a strong presence with Bastion db5 Board Members.
Being regarded as vital to the Bastion db5 culture and company tone.
Having a mature and company minded voice at company meetings.
Being seen as essential to the client relationship by their clients, and having strong presence and confidence to speak up in client meetings.
Consistently producing fresh, innovative work, that is non-complacent and constantly challenging.
Mentoring a team of capable, ambitious strategists who need to be stretched and developed so that they can themselves increasingly run clients and projects.
Playing an active role in ‘making stuff happen’ for the development of the culture and business; sharing learning and pushing the thinking forward.
Owning complex briefs and being the architect of Bastion db5 proposals.
Be the driving influence in presentation analysis, interpretation, insight, and recommendations.
Managing client meetings autonomously and capable of presenting db5 debriefs on their own.
Managing project and team budgets, including sensible costing and cost management, ensuring a profitable bottom line by account and for the team overall.
Coordinating and managing work by other team members (Associate Strategists and Strategists)
Training and mentoring other team members (Associate Strategists and Strategists)
Collaborating across the business to establish best practices and push processes and approaches to a better place

Success in this role requires:
Analytical and creative: Your “out of the box” thinking impels you to extend assignments beyond linear surveys into online communities, bulletin boards and blogs.
Frustrated by the limitations of traditional quantitative research and long to dive deeper to isolate the nuances that makes the difference between statistical significance and genuine understanding.
Understanding of client needs: Really understand them, or don’t stop until you do.

This goes beyond project needs to understanding the client’s business and taking steps to immerse self and team in this understanding.

Able to “manage”: As this position manages a team, liaises with senior/executive-level clients and co-workers, you must be able to perceive their needs and communication styles and adapt to them.

Technical skills: A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.
Maturity and leadership: A proven ability to successfully manage a team and several (or large) client relationships, to autonomously and effectively made decisions.
Presence: Has gravitas internally and with clients, is a trusted go-to expert.
Business savvy: Understands budget and profit and how their team revenue and costs contribute to bigger picture goals.
Required Experience:
8+ years of experience designing, managing, analyzing and presenting quantitative research projects
Outstanding communication skills: persuasive, personable, and passionate when appropriate.
Confident public speaking skills and desire to enhance presentation skills.
Ability to manage many tasks, many deadlines, and client expectations.
Working knowledge of SPSS or SAS; Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Clear and direct writing samples.
Bachelor’s degree in market research, statistics, psychology, sociology, marketing / communications or business, or MMR degree
